Trip Report - Terra Cotta Inn, Palm Springs
We took a Delta Escape Plan fare from Cincinnati - booked on Monday, left on Friday. Got to Los Angeles before 7 pm. Traffic out of LA was terrible. Got to Palm Springs just before 10 PM. The desk at Terra Cotta closes at 10 PM. The door from the outside is always locked. (Your room key opens it. Keeps out gawkers!) There is no sign in front of the inn. The entrance door has the name on it. I had a map from Yahoo - but at night, I drove by it 5 times before my wife spotted the door.
Mary Claire met us when we rang at the door and Tom came out nude to shake hands. They are the owners, an extremely nice couple originally from Chicago. They are really friendly and treat you really well. Mary Claire showed us around. I went out in the buff for some ice. I came back and opened the door wide open to find Linda in the nude just in front of the door. Not remembering where she was, she yelled and put a cover-up in front of her. I said: "No one here could care less." She replied: "You are right. It was just a reaction, not thinking where we are." So, we made some drinks and headed for the hot tub. We had it to ourselves and got real friendly with each other. Hot tubs have that effect on her.
Saturday we slept until 10 AM. Then went over to the office for some nice fresh fruit, coffee and other things. (It is included in the room rate.) The fresh papaya was great. I made an appointment for Linda to have a massage (nude by the pool) for an hour. She loved it and said it was the best she ever had. The atmosphere in the inn compound is very relaxing. Soft music (Linda says it is "aroma theraphy music". She likes that kinda stuff.) There is absolutely no noise. There are no kids allowed. Probably the youngest people there were in their mid-20s. Average age was probably 35 to 40. There were about 2 or 3 single men (polite, nude, not gawkers) All others were couples.
We stayed by the pool for a few hours. Great sunshine - but not hot, although the temperature was about 90 in mid October. They have misters along the side of the pool area and they act like outdoor air conditioners - great! We then had a very late lunch at the Blue Coyote (SW and Mexican) restaurant recommended by Mary Claire. (Mary Claire and Tom serve an excellent selection of sandwiches and salads which they bring to you by the pool if you do not want to go out.)
At the restaurant, we sat outside and it was like being in an air conditioned building. Palm Springs is great for knowing how to make the desert a paradise. We took a trip up into the mountains and came back about 6 PM, got our clothes off and headed for the pool. Ten minutes later, the sun set. (The sun sets quite early behind a high mountain - get to the pool early if you are working on a tan.) So, back to the room for play time. We then went to the hot tub for about two hours. Linda would stay there until she is a prune! Met two other nice couples (everyone nude of course) from N. J. and Arizona. We watched a video in our room. (An excellent selections of videos - probably 150 to 200 - are available in the office at no charge. Honor system, no check out formalities, just get what you want before the office closes at 10 PM.)
Sunday we got up, had breakfast by the pool and got another hour of sun. Had a shower, got dressed (bummer, bummer, bummer) and headed for the LA airport. Took well under two hours to go the 110 miles.
Terra Cotta is a really nice, classy place. The owners are great hosts. It is quiet. There are no kids. And everyone is both nice and nude. We are going back for a three day weekend soon. It is a nice retreat from the rest of the world, but not a place for you if you want lots of action.
