Hawaii: Ron & Nicole - May, 2009

Sometimes in life you take the good and then there’s the really good. We decided to postpone our trip to Desire this year for a couple reasons. The so called flu and the drug wars. Couldn't see an upside to going into hornets nest so we decided on Waikiki Beach in Honolulu. Really wise choice if we must say so ourselves. Yes indeed plus is was $800 less than Desire. Managed to get a direct non stop flight out of Newark to Honolulu. Being on a plane for 10 straight hours was a new experience for the both of us. Bulk head seats are great if you can get them.

Honolulu is just a beautiful part of Hawai'i with the friendliest folks. The restaurants were great, the beaches fantastic and the drinks out of sight.

Should you ever get the chance to explore the Hawaiian Islands either on a cruise or just flying in—DO IT!

Spent an entire day at the Polynesian Culture Center. As you can see from the photos the place is amazing.  The different villages, luau, show and tour guides were outstanding. The center is mostly staffed by students of BYU-Hawai'i. They attend classes from 7 am, begin working at the center at noon and work through the day. They get “ZILCH” for pay however that covers their tuition, room and board. Not a bad trade off considering the cost of a college education now a days.

Nicole just loved the island and wanted to move there. Like yea sure!!!! It’s a great place to visit but to actually live there? No Eagles. No Phillies. No family. No me. Met a couple guys from Philly & Jersey that worked on the beach. After 5 years of partying, surfing, relationships and whatever, I guess they are just plain tired out and are moving back to Philly. Now these guys are in their 20’s and like they told me- Yo man—how much can you party? Hang loose. Told them after going back to Philly next week they’ll be on the next plane by the 4th day.

Hope you enjoy the photos. It was a great 1st Anniversary and a super change of pace from Desire. Been there 10 times. There's just so many beautiful places & beaches to visit in the world to limit one's self to a single resort year after year makes little sense.
