Caliente Florida: Denny & Jackie - 2012

Overall, the resort is quite elegant and up-scale.  The hotel rooms are a little small, but have nice lanais.  The rooms are being repainted and updated a little bit, which is needed.  They were clean, but nothing spectacular.  The resort grounds are very clean and well-maintained, and the staff members provided excellent customer service.  The food was quite good and fairly priced for what we ordered.  While the drinks were a little spendy (it's not all-inclusive at Tampa), they certainly used good "booze" and plenty of it.  So, the need to go back to the bar was quite minimal.  They serve large drinks in styrofoam containers with lids and straws, which also minimized our bar runs.  The entertainment was either very good or outstanding.  The spa was nice, although somewhat expensive; I had a massage and enjoyed it immensely.

This is definitely a mecca for Lifestyles people, although they were all very respectful, and very sedate throughout the day.  There are plenty of PDA's, mostly quite tame and shared among friends, during the day.  However, the place really heats up at night, if you know where to look.  Again, there seem to be various groups of people who know each other well and just enjoy open sexual experiences, usually with multiple partners.  We decided to go to one of the hot tubs after the nightly entertainment, and found several PDP's occurring among various couples and groups throughout a large pool.  We were not approached to join them, but were certainly allowed to have our own "round" without being interrupted.  The resort calls these 2 pools "conversation pools", which is quite humorous.  We nick-named them "fu_k me pools".  They are usually empty during the day, since most people hang out around the large lagoon pool.  However, they come alive at night.  It was an interesting resort, given the complete open nudity throughout the buildings, grounds, and even restaurants.

OK...a little about the "price" you have to pay to get the kind of promotional rates they're advertising.  We were well aware of the mandatory presentation on the third day of our stay.  I have heard that this has typically been a laid back low pressure (45 minute) discussion of what the resort has to offer, should you decide to join.  Based on our experience, they have ramped up their presentation and try very diligently to get you to join "the club/resort".  We wouldn't classify it as high pressure, but it definitely takes longer than 45 minutes, and they are quite persuasive.  We think they are increasing their sales pitches (and extras for joining) right now in order to finance the second hotel building being planned for the resort. We could have walked away and said "no thank you"; but we chose to purchase a minimal membership package (it's not a time share), given the short distance to the resort from our new home.  We think it would be fun to just drive over for some of the weekend parties throughout the year; and, it's a good way to keep us connected as a long-time married couple.  We enjoyed the resort and the freedom it provided, and won't miss the opportunity to use the "conversation pools" in the future.

In summary, this was a nice mini vacation for us.  And, for anyone who is open minded but monogomous like us, or is in the Lifestyle, this promotional package and membership option is a good value.  If you have a client who would like additional information about Caliente, they may contact us via e-mail.  In addition, if you know of any other middle-aged, like-minded couples who might enjoy hanging out with us, send them our way.  We're easy to find in Central Florida.
