In another thread a comment was made about how H2 had, disappointedly, banned those balloon launchers and how some guy with 'no humor' was hit in the head by their launcher. That guy with 'no humor' suffered permanent eye damage. Suffered thru a painful operation and recovery. For reference, have a read to these two thread: May 9, 2009 and May 28, 2009 There are other posts that describe the incident/assault. Personally, I am glad that these balloon launchers are banned from H2. Damage can be caused, and did. I see no justification in its use. My opinion, yours may be different, Chuck

DO NOT bring water balloon launchers to Hedo! I have three of them here at home and they will NEVER EVER be in Jamaica again! A little fun with the EC's or making counterfeit Hedo Bucks or maybe TP'ing Kevin's house on property is a bit of fun, but when somebody gets seriously injured that crosses the line in my book. Yah sure, painting toenails is a pain in the butt; on the other hand it doesn't cause blindness.

There was someone with one during the fluf's trip and I know someone approached a guard about it to put the kibosh on it. Once the perp knew they were being watched, I did not see it come out again.

Let's not forget the 80 year old lady with heart problems who was knocked off her feet by one of these a couple of Thanksgivings ago. The downside is just too great.

Tex, agreed, I see no up side or humor in using these launchers.
Trying to 'hit' slow moving passing boats along the nude beach from other resorts is of what purpose?
Just my opinion, Chuck

I am the wife of the "no humor" guy. His bone under his eye, called the orbital bone" is PERMANENTLY fractured, meaning it will NEVER heal. His eye is PERMANENTLY sunken in to his head causing vision difficulties. He spent FOUR MONTHS off work and doped up because of the pain. Yeah thats real effin funny.
And, we haven't heard from the guys who did this. All we have gotten is bills, I suppose thats pretty funny too.

Judy, I emphasize with you and Ron. What happened to Ron is, indeed, no joke.
To make light of it is just another insult, in my opinion.
Perhaps the insight of a bully.
Maybe the folks who did this will do the right thing and apologize if not come up with some money to offset your financial losses.

WIth the mantra of "respect" being thrown around so much when referring to Jamaica and the people who live there and vacation there, one would think the shooters would have stepped up and done something right and at least tried to help out.
I truly believe that Karma's a bitch. A very cold and unhappy bitch.
Ron and I appreciate everyone's support on here and in the private messages. Good friends have carried our spirits through when we couldn't carry any more.

I agree there's no place at H2 for the water balloon slingshots (or a few other things that also impede another's ability to enjoy their vacation). Reading of Ron & Judy's ordeal when it first happened was a reality slap-in-the-face that no one should have to go thru.
Reading the O/P, though - I get the impression that the person who made the comment in the other thread is being accused of being the one that caused Ron's injuries. At least that's how I read it.
I agree Judy, Karma will certainly pay a satisfying visit to that person (whoever he is)...and I hope you & Ron will find yourself smiling one day - for some unknown reason!

So who really knows if the poster in the other thread was responsible. His (I think it was a him) post might have just been juvenile bravado.
I make no assumptions about the circumstances nor who did it (it is easy to claim either side of the coin). I just hope that those involved come forward (which they have not done), making their mother(s)'s proud.
In the long view, those that DO criminally assault another guest causing serious damages, in my opinion, should be banned from any SC resort for life.
Chuck

Im not starting a debate here but some people believe that the gentleman was assaulted? I believe without a doubt that this was a very unfortunate tragic accident. But do people honestly believe that the person responsible should be banned from Super Clubs? My take is because the person did not come forward than of course none of us would want to be around someone who could not take responsibility for there actions and own up. But im just slightly confused if this was an assault i have read other posts about this but from what i understand they were launching out into the water and a person below where the sling shot was placed either walked into or stood up in its path.
With the persons permission and Denny ill list some Hedo memoribilia Anniversary shirt , Hedo shirt and towel a brochure and some other cool Hedo collectables i have a reunion bracelet too ill get it together list it on Ebay for 99 cents and sell to the highest bidder and donate all the money to the gentleman to help cover some medical bills we know he still has. Ill list Dennys site on the auction also just need permisson from parties involved and to be sure its Ok email me at Hedobob@aol.com

HedoBob, Are you saying you read that the guys shooting the balloons were just slinging them into the water with no other target than the ocean? It sounds unlikely to me, but I don't pretend to know for sure. I would hope that anyone shooting anything anywhere would have the brain power to figure out if what they are doing might possibly hit someone... even if by accident. If this was done on purpose (meaning they were trying to hit someone) then to me it IS assault. Why should anyone on vacation be deemed a target for anyone who thinks it would be fun to hit them with something? It defies logic. Even if their intent was just to splash someone harmlessly with a water balloon they have absolutely no right to target other guests for their own amusement. It is infantile and just plain mean. Even most middle school kids know this is wrong. If they were really, truly not aiming at anyone (which I doubt) and just seeing if they could hit the ocean or not ... well then they are idiots for not taking the innocent bystanders in range into account. To me there is just no way to justify this behavior. Now that the launchers are banned (again) I would support banning anyone who insists on doing it any. Roy

Roy has eloquence that I admire.
Assault does not require intention. Assault means damage to someone's well being.
As I have read in other posts, Ron was standing on the beach, no where near the open ocean. Just outside his room.
There is no such thing as an innocent bystander in this situation; consider the notion of guilty bystander.
Someone launched a water filled balloon that caused permanent damage to Ron. That is assault and intent need not be linked to it.
Those folks who did this have not come forward to hold their responsibility. So sad. So irresponsible.
I would not want to vacation with folks who would want to do this kind of damage in the guise of fun.
I continue to make the observation: NO ONE HAS STEPPED UP TO THIS INCIDENT other than someone who may not have been directly involved to make a JOKE of it.
Chuck

I completely agree ive been to Hedo 14 times never even seen one (a balloon launcher) in all my trips and feel the ban is a positive one that we all wish happened before someone got hurt.

Hey Bob. I applaud your auction idea. As I and probably others have come to know, that is another example of the fine kind of guy that you are. Our best to Diane.

Chuck, I'm not going to split hairs with you, but your original post implies that the person who posted in the other thread hit someone with "no humor" -- and that person (in your second paragraph) is Ron. Maybe not your intention, but that's what a reader may infer.
I've been to Hedo 9 times, and have seen the launchers used (including by long time hedo vets, and DP board frequenters) - in each instance the target being the slow passing snorkle boats from neighboring resorts. Seemed amusing at the time, but I agree there's NO PLACE for them. I'd also like to see the squishy/sponge pool toys that sometimes show up & get thrown around the pool be banned.
Great idea on the auction Bob!

No need to split hairs,
Ron is the one who got the damage; Ron is the one who got permeant eye damage which another poster considers a moment of humor. Who did it (and it takes 3 or 4 folks [two holders, one launcher and one loader] to make the launcher work), has never been identified.
Who knows if that poster in the other thread is among the group that did this as it might just be infantile nonsense of someone who simply watched the destruction and considered it as a funny moment included in the milieu of H2's experiences.
Those that did this to Ron are cowards and bullies as they will not own up to the horrific damage they did.
How else should they (the inflictors) be called? Stupid? Uncaring? Too drunk to know what they did? Too drunk to care?
Without stepping forward, what would their mothers think of them?
Anyone want to hold their hand up?
Why not ban them from H2?
Or charge them with assault? Jamaican jails are interesting and all inclusive.
Chuck
