Anyone ever bring down a portable speaker system for ipods? Or is it just better to let the resort play the music. I know it's hard to please everyone's music taste. One vote for classic rock here.

I've been there when people have brought small speakers and also the Bose unit MP3 players. They are nice if the people next to you like the same music. I prefer to use head phones and not force people to listen to what I enjoy which they might hate.

I always use head phones in my IPOD on the beach area as I can relax better. In our room I bring my own cds along to play. I heard others playing music with speakers on the the beach, not blasting it amd thats ok also. But I prefer not to bother any one else with my music. The music at the nude beach bar is gr8 at times and gets you in the Hedo mood. I guess its what ever floats your boat.

I always bring music. I have a set of portable speakers that I bring and I bring an mp3 player and some cd's. Sometimes the music is incredibly bad (Ava Maria at 3AM at the hot tub last November) or it doesn't work. I get sick of reggae after the first day of non stop reggae at Delroys, so I always thrilled to hear some of music more to my taste either in my room, through headphones or via the bars sound system. 6 days and counting Paul

I have used the portable speakers for the MP3 type players and only use them in public when the group i am with is ok with it.
As the obvious alternative, headphones are the most private and respectful.
Personally, I have a problem with the people who bring their flavor of music down and expect the have the bar sound system broadcast it for their pleasure... often not to the taste of everyone else around.
So for my two cents, bring your headset and use it in public, use small speakers where the local listeners are ok with it... and dont bother messing with the local Jamaican music at the bar... after all we are going to Jamaica to listen to them, not attempting to make Jamaica our own back yards to the chagrin of others.

Also, those with speakers in their rooms should keep the volume down so that those nearby aren't forced to listed to their music.

I've brought Ipod speakers to play quietly early morning on the nude side. Before the bar opens there is no music. There really aren't many around to offend, plus I enjoy a little Marley and so does the pool guy I adore the quiet time at the beach early morning. Just the water lapping the shore. It's my very favorite time of day on the beach when it's quiet....just a reminder that we all enjoy what we enjoy. Liz

I vote for keeping YOUR music to your room. On the beach you should not invade others ears with YOUR taste in tunes.
That's just me...

I totally understand morning peace and quiet but Has anyone brought anything for late night hot tub, maybe backround music. Nothing in your face? That might be cool and sexy . I've never brought anything , but it sounds like it might add alittle atmosphere.

There is plenty of atmosphere at the hot tub late at night. I understand where you are coming from but what's cool and sexy to you or me might be quite annoying to others who are trying to have a conversation, or who just plain hate ________. (Fill in the blank with any genre of music, because there is someone who hates ever kind! For me it's country and rap that just doesn't work at all). That's what complicates things.

Since the room I usually have is close to the hot tub, I'd urge folks to NOT take music to the hot tub late at night...

Good call Lyle! It's tough enough to get some peace and quiet down at that end for sure. The mournful mating call of the wild Vinnie is enough to ruin a night's sleep down there during the Rutting season, which can run all year round I am told.

I brought small speaker for my MP3 player last time to the hot tub. It was around midnight and there were few people in the hot tub. I played some easy going stuff (not necessarily love songs) and asked people in the closest proximity if that's OK. They actually seemed to enjoy it (watch out, I will be covering for DJ at the disco next time I'm at Hedo). I guess it's really all about being respectful and making sure your choice of music is not too severe (no hard rock, metal, trance etc).

I forgot to mention that the speaker was really low volume. It was literally not possible to hear it from the other side of the hot tub through the water jets.

I agree with music in the room for your private enjoyment.
As with any music - it's a matter of individual preference.
I don't always care for what plays on the PA on the nude side - but, hey - it's their hotel.
Most of the music at the nude beach now are MP3's on flash drives that the DJ or M.O.D. "selects", then locks the sound system.
Unfortunately, there are glitches in the system as at times the same song will play over and over again for HOURS.
When we attempted to get the EC's to change the music last year -the EC's got soundly chewed out by a particular bartender and pretty much told "...don't mess with MY music !!!!"
It created a little "dust-up" for a while.
