Hedonism II |
Spent over a
week at Hedo III in June, 2009. We are a multi-trip couple.
Stayed again in
building six at the nude pool. Not too surprised occupancy
seemed to be way down from every previous trip, due to the economic
downturn. But, we had just as good a time as ever even with
less bodies and personalities.
Upside of fewer
folks was the buffet always had plenty of seating at all
times--simply wonderful. Great choice of lounges at Nude Pool
at all times. We never eat any more at Italian or Asian
restaurants, selection is too good at the buffet.
Met the new
hotel manager, seems like a very friendly, communicative, sharp,
quick-witted gentleman. When I bitched about only one towel
per person he quickly smiled and said "go to the front desk and ask
them for more vouchers for towels"--DONE! We were happy with
two towels each. After initial skepticism, we really loved the
new towel policy---you get what you need and they are always
available.
What we
learned: getting to our room we had some winged little creatures in
the bathroom which we smacked to death.....uh, you have to pick them
up and flush them otherwise in a hour you have a pile of ants eating
the remains.
Almost every
day we had to request another tv remote control....after 6-8 hours
of taking possession each time either/or the on-off, channel
selector, volume ceased to work. Don't know if it's the
humidity or what, very strange. Oh, and we usually had to make
two requests each time, several hours apart, before another would
magically appear. We made both telephone requests and
in-person front desk requests, and the response (or no response or
delayed response) was the same.
Attended two
Thursday 5 p.m. welcome-back cocktail parties (and didn't win).
We called the front desk an hour before the first one and said we
had no invite put in our room and they said come on up--no problem
Mon. One was in the 2nd floor singalong room, the other on top
the Reggae Cafe. Both nice and quick and hospitable.
It rained and
was overcast most days.....then when it was clear and hot we got
sunburned---just can't win but it's all good.
The entire
staff is awesome, verrrry friendly---most ever, in fact. Chef John
at the Nude pool split mid-week to go get married! Congrats to
him. His replacement, a very nice, quiet young lady is also
one great cook.
Surprised no
scrambled eggs at buffet, hotel manager said it's against health
regs---so had to get 'em made at the omelet station which was fine
as attendance was way down and virtually hardly ever a line.....
Nude pool
guards seemed a little friendlier---never saw (or got) a rebuke for
PDA's in daylight. New policy? Or because of light attendance?
Who cares, we're all adults and it's a Nude Pool! Hooray!!
The weekly
activity sheet is a trip. They list things happening at places
that never happen.
The pools and
spas were extremely clean, and meticulously maintained and "chemicaled".
That's nice. The grounds seemed to be even more sharply
groomed than previous trips.
Glad during our
time they didn't stage a dinner on the beach or in the large outside
patio area. The lighting always makes it difficult to see
what's on your plate.
Did the massage
thing outdoors and as usual it was very good.
Room attendants
did a magnificent job with our room and, this was the first trip
where our room keys worked without fail every time.
Had a 10:30
a.m. flight to return home from Montego Bay airport
(Sangster).....the hotel made us get on the bus at 6 a.m. sharp.
Made one pickup at another hotel on the way. The entire trip
was 1 hour, 10 minutes.....so we sat around the airport for hours!
What's with that, leaving so damn early? Next time we're
thinking about hiring a car service from hotel to airport.
Our grade and
rating on a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being best: 9.999999
