Hedonism II

Carl & Mary - July, 2008

Just returned from almost 2 weeks at Hedo 3...

We're a multi-trip couple.  Occupancy was way low during our period, however we enjoyed the change, more laid back and relaxing....

Had some rain, but mainly at nite---days were hot (no surprise).

The food at the Terrace was very good with outstanding range of choices for virtually every taste worldwide.  Suggestion:  hot fudge and whipped cream by the self-serve soft serve ice cream machine.  People absolutely love that ice cream machine!

The pool towel situation as far as availability was the best ever.  Whether that was because there were fewer guests---we do not know.  Also, there were plenty of yellow floating mats.  The nude beach seemed to have twice the number of loungers set up than normal.  By the way, the young man or men who groom the nude beach each early morning do an outstanding, meticulous job.  It was always in pristine condition, virtually down to each grain of raked sand.

Wish list---remove the seaweed covering a lot of the ocean bottom off the nude beach....it is coarse and we usually get nipped by some little aquatic creatures living in there and itch for a couple of hours----very irritating!

Since our last trip last year many EC's have changed....however, all the new ones are tops, especially Sashia!

Most employees seem even more personable and reach out to guests more than ever, maybe that is a re-emphasized policy of management.  From the bellmen, groundskeepers, food servers, maids, masseuses, supervisors, to the bartenders, this is a friendly, all-inclusive group of employees----the best of what seems to be the natural warm Jamaican personality shines through.

HOWEVER----just some of the front desk/registration employees seem to still exhibit a "us against them (guests)" demeanor.  Do not know why.  This is nothing new.  Are they trained that way?  Are they NOT re-trained so they will project that way?  Is there a communication problem dealing with people from different cultures visiting from around the world? Only management knows.

Suggestion----replace the poles for the volleyball net at the nude pool with permanent, solid poles.  Nude pool volleyball is a big attraction, and half the time the net's sagging into the water.  At one point we witnessed industrious guests taking wood chips, wedging them into the hole between the wooden pole, grabbing a large rock and pounding it in to tighten it up, then sliding the PVC/plastic pipe over the wood pole, and re-affixing the net.  It lasted a couple days until it went down again.  This was the pole closest to the ocean.  Hey, we'll donate our Hedo Bucks to pay for the hardware.

The Hedo grounds are beautifully maintained and lush---we love the walks every day and nite to the restaurants enjoying the ambience of a tropical paradise.

Another suggestion: any chance to upgrade the toilet tissue from Grade 2 sandpaper to something a LITTLE softer?  That would be nice.

Far less sexual activity in daylight hours at the nude pool then normal (darn).

It seemed most times we placed one of the paper door hangers on the outside of our door for early maid service or morning coffee room service, the hanger blew off the door handle.  We returned to our room at 5 p.m. one day and discovered the maid ignored our room----then noticed the "early maid service" sign we put out had blown off and flipped upside down so it read "Do Not Disturb"---mystery solved!  Perhaps heavy plastic door hangers would solve that, except you couldn't write your morning coffee service order on it!  We're going to try to remember to bring scotch tape next trip.

All in all, another great trip and experience.
