Steve & Darla - April, 2007

This was our second trip to Hedo 3, our first was the second week of November 2006. We went with another couple that had invited us. We had discussed going for several years but never did due to the same reservations many have, out of shape, age, conscientious of what people would think, etc. Unknowingly, we went the week that a group called Kink in the Caribbean was booked, although we are not into that lifestyle, those folks made for a memorable and enjoyable week, they were polite, and never once pushed anything on anyone. The first trip, the resort was full, as soon as we got there we headed straight for the nude pool, dropped trou and jumped in head first, after 15 minutes, life was good. We are both workaholics and true vacations are hard to enjoy. That week was the most relaxing week either of us had ever experienced, before the week was over, we knew we’d be back as soon as we could.

The following covers comparisons of the two trips. We left for our second trip the 2nd week of April 2007. First trip: the resort was full, 2nd trip the resort may have been 50 – 60% full, many said it was busy the week before and this week was slow due to spring break and many parents had plans with their kids elsewhere. First trip, our non-stop Air Jamaica flight stopped in Atlanta for 1 hour, 2nd trip, flight was delayed 1.5 hours in Chicago, non-stop to MoBay once we took off. The airport has had numerous renovations since November trip. We got through customs quickly, went to the superclub room and were on our way to Hedo 3 with in 20 minutes on both trips. The road construction has improved immensely since November, a few rough areas, but much improved, it can only continue to get better. Took slightly over and hour which may seem long to some, but the bus ride is part of the experience, enjoy it, this is a great way to meet other people that are also going to Hedo 3.

Both trips; arrived, were checked in quickly with out hassle. First stay was in the 800 building, nice room, nice location, this week we stayed in the 400 overlooking the quad, this room was nice as well, there was pool noise coming in the bathroom windows, but if you closed the bathroom door, there was silence. Access to the entire resort is convenient from all locations. Never any major hot water problems either week, if you choose to shower around 7:00 –7:30pm the same time as everyone else, there will be less pressure and possibly warm water. Solution - shower later or earlier. We spent all our time at the nude pool, first trip; it was packed, around 5:00pm every night, PDA everywhere, 2nd trip, very little PDA. The people make everything enjoyable and the people both trips were wonderful, it is what you make of it, with whomever you make it with.

Food was persistently good, naturally, some better than others, it’s all up to personal choice, and there are many. We dined at Munason’s 3 nights as that is our preference, the food is awesome, the air conditioning works well in there and it is more of a social time with people you’ve met, and people you’ve yet to meet. First trip, there were people everywhere early evening, 2nd trip, it was slower, things didn’t get started until much later in the evening, but then again, it was a much smaller group.

The weather was awesome both trips. The staff was exceptional; we were surprised how many of the staff remembered us from our first trip, it’s a nice feeling to get hugs for coming back. Since tips are unacceptable, we took jewelry, and other small appropriate gifts to discreetly give to some of the staff members for their assistance. Expressing gratitude is advantageous no matter where you are staying. Packing; less is good, first trip, 2 huge bags, 2nd trip, 1 huge bag and we still had a few things we didn’t wear, don’t over pack, take what you need for evening wear for the nightly festivities, (your naked most of the daytime) and remember to take a few things that you take for granted at home, e.g. aspirin, tooth paste, condoms, all these items are very expensive in Jamaica.

Then comes the sad day of departure and back to reality, first trip; good ol’ Air Jamaica delayed our flight from 4:45 to 9:45pm, fortunately they informed us in advance and we stayed at the pool and relaxed for the day. 2nd trip, got to the airport for our 4:45 flight, good ol’ Air Jamaica let us know at 4:40 that the flight will not depart until 9:45. Setting in an airport for 7 hours blows big time, I can best compare it to road rage. The first trip we got into Chicago at 1:00 am, the last bus out was at 10:30 pm, the next bus out was at 6:00 am, we ended up renting a limo for $125.00 to take us the 1.5 hour drive to our car. 2nd trip; due to strong head winds we arrived at O’Hare at 2:00 am, again, last bus out was at 10:30 pm. This time, I had a civil but to the point discussion with an Air Jamaica rep, they shelled out $130.00 for a ride to take us to our car. Out side of Air Jamaica, we have no major complaints.

The EC’s try to get everyone involved in activities, even those that hesitate enjoy themselves. A nice long beach to walk on would be nice, but we still enjoyed ourselves, we never strayed from the pool. Some of the resort is in need of minor repair, but nothing that is unbearable. The evening attire was creative and sexy, some left little for the imagination, and some left none. You can drink till you float, you can smoke ganja till your green, but you’ll never run them out of either, they can produce it as fast as you consume it. All inhibitions disappear, for us, it brought out a romance and passion that we had misplaced years ago. Trust us, you’ll never want to lose what you experience, you’ll take it home with you.

As is life, Hedo 3 is what you make of it, fine people, cold cocktails and good times can be enjoyed by anyone if you take it upon yourself to relax and be open. We relaxed, enjoyed ourselves, and met some wonderful people. Hedo 2, or 3, I have no idea if one is better than the other, but we will be going back to 3 again in November 2007.
