HEDO III UPDATE

We just returned from a fun week at Hedo III and we think it was our 12th trip 3/28 to 4/4.  This trip we joined the Hedo Amigos, put together by our old friends Jeff and Jenny and met some really great people.  Jeff and Jenny were original members of the JWST and built the group using a Yahoo Group site.  Travel was uneventful using Spirit Airlines out of Ft Lauderdale.  Spirit has been offering some hot sales and we wound up with $98 R/T fares (plus taxes, etc.).

Arrival at MoBay was more or less painless.  They have opened a number of additional booths to process people through Immigration and have also moved customs to a new arrival hall involving a bit of a walk after getting your baggage.   They are renovating the entire arrival area so there was a lot of construction going on.  The SuperClubs arrival lounge also seemed to be in a new location, but just as efficient.

Good news……..the road is almost finished., They’ve even completed the last section in and out of the airport and turned it into a divided highway.  That really alleviates the congestion we’ve been used to.  The rest of the road through MoBay is not completed as yet, but once you reach the outskirts of town, you roll right along all the way to Runaway Bay and Hedo.  There are a few short detours, but for the most part the road is open.  We had a wild cab ride and made it in under one hour.

There are also some changes underway at the resort.  They have installed a new reservation system that makes it lots easier for the staff.  They have also installed electronic door locks that use credit card type keys with a magnetic strip.  In addition all of the room safes have replaced and the new ones have electronic locks eliminating the need for keys.  The safes are the same size as before however, and won’t accommodate a laptop.  They are in the process or painting and fixing all over the resort.  They are building gazebos with swinging beds in several locations.

People Changes:

Romeo is leaving early in April for Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines.

Nola is no longer on the restaurant staff and is working in the front office.

Norcliff is the Maitre D’ at Pastafari.

Renford is now overall Restaurant Manager.

Suzette is now overall Bar Manager and was replaced as Bar Supervisor by Sunshine.

Garfield Collins, the PR Manager is leaving for another position and has been replaced by LeeJay.

Sonia Davis is the new Executive Assistant Manager

Food and service as always was superb.  We saw a few new faces on the staff, but for the most part, the bar and restaurant staff remain pretty steady.  It’s always nice to see the kitchen staff such as supervising chefs come out and chat with the guests.

Nick, the Entertainment Manager, told us they are going to make some changes in the schedule and theme nights, so be sure to check the Hedonism III web site before you go to get the latest updates.  They won’t be major changes, but they are instituting some “tweaking” make things run smoother.  Overall, entertainment by the staff and by outside performers was great.

They have moved the “Trading Post” where you exchange Hedo Bucks for booze.  It used to be on the stage in the main lounge, but now is set up in the main lobby.

All in all it was a great trip and we’re looking forward to the Jamaican Waterslide Team week 8 to 15 September.
