Rob & Laura - March, 2006

This was our first trip to Hedo. Also happened to be our first extended trip away from the kids so it was only 4 nights (3 full days at Hedo) 3/27/06 - 3/31/06. We had to get up at 3:30 am to make our flights. Flights were uneventful and we landed at a little before 4pm at MBJ. We almost got on the wrong van and ended up at H2 while our luggage was on it’s way to H3, but we managed to get over to the right van before it left. We actually enjoyed the ride to Hedo, being our first time to Jamaica it was very educational. The second half of the ride was even more enjoyable after we had picked up a bucket of Red Stripe and dropped off  the other passengers at Starfish.

We got to the resort about 6:30 and check-in was smooth and quick (as far as I could tell after all the Red Stripe and not having eaten anything since 9am). Caught the end of a sunset and had our first delicious meal at the Scotch Bonnet. Sitting by the ocean eating jerk chicken/pork with the sound of the waves crashing against the rocks; the smell of saltwater and Caribbean food in the air; the sight of the last vestiges of sunlight fading over the water relaxed me to a level I had not felt for a very long time. I said to Laura – “It doesn’t get any better than this” – how wrong I was….

We went back to our room and tried calling the kids but the phone would not work so I just used my cell phone - no problem, mon. The roaming charges were about the same as the room phone rate anyway. We were so beat after traveling all day that we tried to take a nap before heading out to see what the night life was about. Ended up not being able to sleep because we were too excited to finally be there after a long arduous wait. We were also too annoyed by the tree frogs  - by the end of the trip we worried if we would be able to sleep w/o them once we got home.

Looking back – it had to be so obvious that we were newbies (more on that later). We got a couple drinks and watched the trapeze show. Checked out the piano bar, and tried to check out the disco but it was just after 11:00 so there was no one there. We ended up walking down the boardwalk and relaxing in a hammock. Got our first taste of what Hedo is all about watching a couple on their way to the nude pool, but not quite make it there before stopping for a quickie…

Decided we were too tired to get any more out of the night and still have energy for our own fun so we headed back to our room. We had a nice “private” moment back at the room … until after finishing we heard a knock at the back door (did I mention we were in a pool front room on the Quad and we forgot to close the shades?). Got two thumbs up and the guy was raving how incredible that was and something about he was an actor/director - he was mad that he did not have a camera on him because he could have made a million. We did not bother telling him that the level of sex he witnessed was just on par for us (nothing compared to how good it got later on the trip). He came back later with a business card…

The next morning we had breakfast and then went out to the quad pool. Laura took her first steps towards making it over to the nude side and took off her top. A little background – Laura has been fighting a strange condition for the last couple years where she can only be in the sun for less than 10 minutes at time or she breaks out in a rash and itches all over. She has tried everything to avoid it to no avail. We just figured that we would stay out of the sun and enjoy the nightlife (having a late nightlife was one of the reasons we went to Hedo in the first place). Well, after a little time at the Quad, Laura started to break out. We went back inside and decided to try going down to the nude beach and hide in the shade of the trees. Being our first trip to an au natural beach we were pretty proud of ourselves for how quickly and easily we adapted to the nude beach. Although I doubt many of our friends or neighbors would be surprised. What happened next was the most pleasant surprise of the whole trip. After laying in the shade a while and noticing that we were still getting a fair amount of sun – we noticed that Laura had no rash. Turns out that she only breaks out in the sun if she has clothes on!!!! After 2 years of fighting it and avoiding the sun – we found the cure. If we had not come to Hedo – we never would have known. We spent the whole afternoon in the pool/hot tub and I still can’t get over how incredible a turn of events this ended up being. Amazing how magical this place is!

We met a great couple that first afternoon and hung out with them a lot off and on the whole three days. Had dinner at Pastafari – I loved my food (although I was fairly drunk already), Laura’s was just ok. PJ night was ok, but we did not care for all the junk that came along with the Devine Lane crew being there – just wanted some music to dance to. We left early and had a blast on the water slide and hot tub before crashing for the night. The next two days were pretty much the same. We had not planned any extensive activities since we were only there for three days. We napped the morning away on the nude beach, ate lunch and hung out in the hot tub till the sun went down.

Wednesday night was spent in the piano bar with some of our new friends and then we had a blast dancing at the disco and discovering that Laura LOVES to pole dance. I had always had my suspicions – but now it is clear that she can’t wait to get back up there J

By Thursday night we were noticing several new people with that same look in their eyes that I’m sure we had our first night. I made a point to go over and talk to them like I wish more people had done with us the first night. Funny, how after just 3 days you can feel so at home that it’s like you have been there for years. We felt like we knew so much – even though we only experienced a small fraction of what Hedo has to offer. Knowing that we only scratched the surface of the Hedo life makes us that more eager to get back. We were there long enough to get really comfortable – but not long enough to have our fill.

Thursday was to be our final big blast since we had to leave Friday morning. Laura made togas for us. Hers was incredibly hot – mine was very skimpy and kinda gay (but as long as we were next to each other it was obvious that we were together J ) They were made out of a semi-sheer, silver, metallic fabric. No man is meant to wear this stuff – especially a loin cloth made out of it … Though after enough rum I was wearing it with pride. We came in second place for the couples competition. We lost to Michael and Jill – worthy competitors.

After dancing till we were nearly the last ones in the disco (and a couple more pole dances ;) ), the two other couples we had been hanging out with and us all went out to get some water slide runs in before it closed. Well – the women sat in the hot tub while the “boys” ran up and took as many runs as we could get in. Nothing makes you feel like a kid again like running around naked and racing to see who can get the most waterslide runs in…

After a 4am rendezvous on the nude beach we managed to get an hour and a half sleep before having to have our bags out at 7am Friday morning. I don’t even want to go into how depressing it was to leave – or how hard the next couple days were being back in the real world…

We are both dreaming about our next trip back. Next time it will be longer – and we will have to check out more of the activities.

Miscellaneous thoughts:

The ECs are great. We had fun participating in several activities (made enough Hedo $ to get a couple bottles of rum to take home)

The nude side is definitely where it is at. We never made it over to the prude side during ~11- 6pm, but every time outside of that it was like a ghost town. I never saw anyone in the prude pool and saw about 4 people on the prude beach.

I loved the food – I’m not too picky when it comes to food I guess.

We had a Quad pool front room, and spent a total of about an hour in the quad the whole time…
