Jamie & Robbi - February, 2006

Well we just got back from Hedo III and since it is impossible to concentrate on work, I thought I might as well post a review. It was our first trip to Hedo although we have been to Desire twice. Since it might be of some interest to some of you, we will compare Hedo to Desire. We are not affiliated in any way with either so this is just our opinion, so you can take it or leave it.

As far as rooms/facilties go we would say the resorts are pretty close. Desire is newer, but we liked the closet/drawer space at Hedo. Comparing a Hedo suite and a Jaccuzi suite at Desire we would say the Hedo room was slightly better laid out.

The facilities at the two resorts are comparable, except for one area. There is absolutely nothing in the world that compares to the roof top hot tub at Desire. Hedo also is about twice as many rooms, but is divided into nude, prude and clothing optional parts. You tend to meet everyone at Desire more quickly than Hedo although after a day or two at both resorts similar minded people tend to gravitate towards each other.

As we were leaving Hedo just as a group called Lifestyle Lounge arrived. We have to admit after one night with this group our opinion of Hedo would have probably been a lot better had we overlapped with them more. There was so much energy with them there that seemed missing the earlier days.

Food was comparable at both places. The buffet was probably better at Desire because of the grill while the specialty restaraunts were probably better at Hedo. Staff at both places were excellent, although Desire staff seem more relaxed because there seems to be a sense at Hedo that staff was being watched more closely by management. Great service at both places, however.

Not to knock Hedo, but there were a couple of downsides. The main one is the single guys. Initially we were concerned about single guys then we thought oh well they can not be that bad. Our first though was probably more accurate. We really did not like the fact that there were single guys. They probably were only about 10% of guests. It is not that they were grabby or even aggresive, but more that they were just so so desparate. Especially in the hot tub anytime a female spoke to them, even if it was just to ask to hand them a towel, it seemed like they took it as "oh maybe they will have sex with me" and would scoot right over. The dynamic is just so different when you are dealing with other couples. Sex is something that happens or doesn't happen, but with the single guys we just found females had to be constantly on guard.

The other downside is that tipping is supposed to be forbidden at Hedo and staff are threatned with losing their jobs if caught. We won't comment on whether tipping goes on or not. You can guess, but we feel that if we pay for a vacation and if we want to tip someone we should not have to hide it.

Overall we definately prefer Desire. However, we certainly would have stayed longer at Hedo if we could have and we will probably go back to Hedo III at some point, but only when there is either a takeover or a large group such as Lifestyle Lounge that is mostly couples.
