Hedonism III Trip Report
Dates 11/11/05 - 11/15/05

Going to Hedo III was a spur of the moment idea for us. My husband
has always wanted to go but I have always been a little afraid. We booked 10 days prior to going, when other travel plans fell through. I decided that I was not getting any younger and I was probably never going to have the perfect body - so what the heck - we decided to go for it!!
This site was so helpful for us when we were trying to figure out what
we were in for!!!

We had a great flight from Atlanta to Montego Bay on Air Jamaica. Lots of fun people and really pleasant flight. We were actually early. I was having a little bit of trouble at check in because I had never been told to bring a copy of my marriage certificate since I did not have a passport and was using my birth certificate. But, they finally let me go. When we arrived at the Super Clubs lounge, the couple in line in front of us was having a fit because Hedo III was over booked and they were being sent to Holiday Inn. They moved us to a table and reassured us that we were not being sent to Holiday Inn but would have to go to Grand Lido Braco. We were disappointed but I reassured my husband that it was suppose to be a really nice resort. Off we went on the crazy bus ride. We met the couple that had been offered Holiday Inn, which they finally convinced them to send them to Braco, as well. They were our new best party friends! It was all of our's first Hedo trip, so we were all very excited and just a little nervous. Our bus did not make a beer stop. Not sure why, we were told that we were?????? Oh well.......
We arrived at Braco and of course our rooms were not available. But
no big deal. Had great welcome Rum Punch drinks. We headed off with our new best party friends and had lunch & more rum punch and then checked back at the front desk. Their rooms were ready but ours were not. So, we grabbed our suits, changed in the bathroom and headed for the beach.
We found the nude beach and promptly dis-robed. A first!! It was not bad and my husband was thrilled when he returned from the bar and found me au-natural for the first time in public!
We had a great afternoon. (The beach is much much nicer at Braco) Our new friends found us and we discovered some great new drinks and headed to the hot tub where we found some other Hedo refugees. We were all disappointed that we were not there but were enjoying the beauty of this resort. Around dark, my husband and I decided we better go get our rooms. We are not very big drinkers and needless to say, we did what everyone tells you not to do! We had been drinking all afternoon and stumbled to the front desk, got our room keys (They wondered where we had been!) We promptly found our room and passed out. We missed dinner, and all the nights entertainment. We were so mad at ourselves!
The next morning, we met all the others and headed to Hedo. (It was about a 30 minute ride from Braco)
Everyone was very nice and apologetic about our delay in getting to our resort of choice. Management even compt us all for one night and gave us two nights for a return visit. I thought that was very thoughtful of them. According to what we were told - there was a mistake with reservations and not enough rooms had been reserved for the Kinks group. This is why so many of us were bumped for one night.
Our rooms were ready. Yeah!! We had a ground floor Quad Pool front room. It was very nice and No MOLD! We hit the nude pool and met lots of friendly people.
We have never been to a resort like this and it was incredilbly different and exciting. We enjoyed watching all the games and the freedom that many people exhibited.
We found the food to be just so-so. The Japanase Restaurant was Wonderful! Do not forget to make a reservation. It will be your best meal there!!!
We usually went over to the grill and had a jerk burger or jerk chicken for lunch. Omelets were great for breakfast.
We really enjoyed laying out on the pier and watching the sunset. We would then head to the Quad hot tub (Nude one was always too crowded!) We had some great times!
Then we would go in and take a nap and get ready for the night. Showers were always only luke warm. I would have loved a hot bath but I knew there would not be enough hot water. We did the Italian Restaurant one night (it was just Ok but the atmosphere was nice) We went to the Disco and the Piano Bar but we really enjoyed sitting out on the pier and having our own romantic time or sitting at the main bar and meeting new people.
Well, I know this is getting rather lengthy, so I will give a few last minute hints -
We had a lot of trouble calling home. This was very frustrating for us because of our young kids at home. I had bought calling cards but never was able to use them. If you go this route, be sure you call before you leave the U.S. and get help from the operator on how to use it. I spent $30.00 trying to use mine because the resort charges you everytime you are connected to a long distance operator. The phone number that the resort gave me to give our family to call us - also did not work. Our friends that had verizon phones had no trouble. We have nextel and they did not work at all.
Do not wait to buy souvenirs at the airport. We thought we would have plenty of time but the lines for security, and immigrations was unreal. We barely made our flight. It also left 35 minutes earlier than it was suppose to!
Like I mentioned before, this was our first trip of this sort and we did not really know what to expect. Now, that we are back home - all my husband talks about is going back. The minor frustrations of phone, hot water, and so-so food really don't mean a hill of beans. I can imagine every time you go that it is a brand new adventure because so much depends on who you meet and what your willing to experience. We were pretty calm this trip but we are already looking forward to our next time! We are trying to decide if we want to go back to III or try II next time. I would love to see Negril and am hopeful that the beach is nicer than at III.
We are thinking a spring trip is calling our name!
