Jim & Mary Ellyn - April, 2005

April 22nd- May 1st – Spring Break!

This was our second annual Spring Break trip and we already can’t wait for next year! DIF set in before we even hit the plane!

We headed down with about 20 couples that booked with our group and another 15 couples we met online. Most of us got to know each other on a message board before the trip and settled in quickly once we got there, feeling like we were already friends. The friendliness of the group was contagious and we had even more people join up with us once we got to Hedo.

We arrived without too much trouble on Friday. Air Jamaica was about what we expected. Once we got to the Chicago airport at 4am, we were informed our flight had been “cancelled” and after a few moments wait were told we had been rescheduled with Northwest Airlines leaving only 10 minutes later than our flight, but with a layover in Memphis. The total time added to our trip was about 2 hours so it wasn’t so bad, but some people had it worse, being told that they had to wait 12 hours at the airport and in at least one case, wait until the next day!

Check in at MBJ wasn’t too bad. About ½ hour in line at customs, 15 minutes to get our bags, and another ½ hour to get on the bus and get on the road. Our bus ride had 10 couples, 8 of which were headed to Hedo with us. The other two seemed friendly and not put off by us Hedonists who were anxious to get started. One short stop at the roadside bar and we arrived at H3 without incident.

Our room was ready upon arrival and we got a swim up suite – having booked Run of the House. The resort was changing over, but it was still at about 80% capacity. On our first day we met Parracky Parrot, whom we found him to be a really great guy and loved having him join in with us for his last full night at Hedo!

Saturday was busy greeting new arrivals, but we had a small cocktail party with about 20 people up in the piano bar, and then enjoyed the Pussy Cat review together at dinner on the patio.

Sunday, the resort started to pick up with new arrivals but remained quiet as people were settling in, however we were meeting so many people who had visited the message board or whom we had talked to on Denny’s that we were already having a great time. We also had the pleasure of meeting the lovely and lively new Webmistress for Hedonism1.com. If you get the chance to meet this lovely lady, don’t pass it up…. she is not only beautiful but charming, intelligent and tons of fun to be with!

Monday we kicked back by the nude pool as we did most days, but by now the group was fully settled in and enjoying drinks, volleyball, and socializing. Juli Ashton (from Playboy TV) arrived and we got to talk with her a bit – she is a very sweet and friendly lady who is so down to earth you feel comfortable with her immediately. She was bringing her own group down starting on Tuesday and had arrived early to be ready for them.

Monday afternoon, we were treated to a class on pole dancing in the disco by the Entertainment Coordinator Spike who could out dance most women on the pole. We all learned how tough it is to really climb that pole and swing on it and vowed to improve our upper body strength before we come back next year!

Monday night we had a Sunset Reception on top of the Scotch Bonnet. The appetizers and service was fantastic! We got to meet a lot of the staff and key people behind what makes Hedo the place we enjoy. The Webmistress and Juli Ashton also joined us as well! Also on the two Mondays we were there, they had a beach party with dinner served out on the sand. This turned out not to be quite as fun as it sounded as the sand fleas were horrible and we were being eaten alive, despite using bug spray we had brought with! Most of us didn’t care for this beach party because of that and many took their food up to the terrace and ate up there.

Tuesday, a group of us went to see Dunn’s Falls. Although we had been there before, the rest of this smaller group had not and it’s always fun to see the falls again. We hired a van and got “Smiley” who is one of the most congenial taxi drivers around, for about $30 per couple.

Tuesday night was the PJ party and we had a really hot time in the disco! A couple of the ladies from our group moved into the cage and shortly we had about a dozen hot ladies crammed into that cage, as well as hanging on the outside, steaming up the whole disco! Finally, one of the guys climbed up on TOP of the cage for the best view and danced for everyone from up there. He was eventually joined by some little cutie up there who gave him is own private lap dance!  I don’t think that cage has ever been that active before!

Reservations for Munasan’s and Pastafari, unlike last year, can now only be booked 24 hours in advance, however, they start taking reservations at MIDNIGHT the night before. We got into Pastafari with about a dozen for dinner. The service was not up to it’s previous standards and the staff seemed upset due to a mix up in the number on our reservations – despite the fact that the restaurant was half empty! Service was VERY slow and the food was only fair. It was pretty disappointing!

Wednesday was also our impromptu Naughty School Girl theme night and boy were the ladies and guys hot! Mostly the ladies with some very creative and sexy costumes!  This theme is getting to be very popular at Hedo and got a lot of attention – though there was some rumor floating around that there was a guy who brought in Russian Hookers and for some reason, a number of people thought that those of us in the school girl costumes were the hookers!!

Thursday night of course was Toga night, but another group had reservations at Munasan’s this time. Munasan’s was just as fantastic as always and our hostess Allison took great care of us and made sure we had everything we needed. The toga party was pretty much status quo for those who’ve been there before, however, there was an impromptu marriage proposal on stage during the couple’s toga contest (which the staff was in on) that just added to the atmosphere and fun of the night! We were all thrilled to witness and share in this special time with this couple!

Friday was the hot fetish fever night and there were some remarkable costumes. For the most part, it seemed that many did not dress in slut wear this week, though no one felt out of place if they did. At least we didn’t! Themes were mostly dressed up for the disco rather than at dinner as well.

Juli Ashton’s group was around all week, but they were on offsite excursions on a couple of the days and stayed in the quad most of the week. You wouldn’t even know there was anything different going on that week and when you met anyone from this group, they were as friendly and down to earth as anyone could be! This was quite a different atmosphere from what you see when Playboy channel is at the resort – very non-intrusive. Although I (Mary) had the pleasure of attending a bachelorette party for Juli later on Friday - which was anything but laid back!!!

Unfortunately, a few of us got sick this week. By Friday, it had hit 3 of us plus an entertainment coordinator and on Saturday two more were feeling ill. We seemed to vary among our symptoms, but included body aches, fever, upper respiratory congestion and dizziness/weakness. I wound up getting a breathing treatment in the nurses station and was greatly relieved to know they had a nebulizer there for those of us who have asthma! The worst part lasted around 24 hours for most of us, though no one was “cured” before they left for home. Jim and I are still coughing and congested a week later.

On Saturday, the majority of the group was headed home but a few of us were able to enjoy wedding vow renewals for a couple in our group. Hedo does a beautiful job with their ceremonies and of course the setting at the gazebo overlooking the ocean is beautiful! Karen Major deserves kudos for a great job!

We have to say we were lucky enough to have beautiful weather for most of the trip, with one shower (lasting about 3 hours) Sunday afternoon of the last day – who can complain about that after 8 days of beautiful clear sunshine? The resort remained at about 80% or better capacity all week, though when we stayed over the following week, attendance appeared to be much lower and the resort was considerable quieter. PDA’s were high in occurrence at night all week, and pretty active during the day as well, with security present but not interrupting at all.

Music has improved from last year…both poolside and in the disco. The disco was still loud, but not nearly as head splitting as we experienced last year with a better variety of music. Poolside music has a much better variety now and they will not only turn it down when you ask them to, but are happy to play the CDs that you bring with.

All staff is just as wonderful, helpful and cordial as ever! Service at the nude pool was excellent with the team there doing an admirable job of keeping up with orders. Dining staff was on top of all our needs and food was very good. Kudos to David and Nola in the dining room for seeing to all our needs and reserving tables for our group for dinner.

The entertainment crew was working really hard, though they are still short staffed but looking to hire more. There were 3 fairly new ladies  (Passion, Mystery and Secret) and among the guys, was a new one “Flava” and Spike, Flex, Romeo and Nick their leader who is new since last year. There is a definite improved quality to the choreography of their shows. This crew is working their butts off to keep morale and the fun churning just as good as ever and deserve a great deal of appreciation for their friendliness and cheerful attitudes!

As always…Hedo was great and DIF has set in even worse than it has on any previous trip! We can’t wait to get back home again! If you guys at H 3 are reading this…we love you and miss you!
