Trey - June, 2004

We didn't know about Denny's site our first few trips, and we didn't write reports of the ones after that, but this was our first trip to Hedo 3, so we thought we'd share our impressions.  After booking our trip, we discovered the Cavedwellers were going to be there the same week, so we joined up, and DAMN, what a bunch of fun party animals.  Most are lifestylers, we're not, and one day they gave people painted dots on the shoulders to distinguish between the two.   Fun group, I'd recommend them to anyone.

Alex at nude bar, to female Cavedweller, "What's up?"
Female Caveweller, scanning the nude pool, "Nothin' yet."

Ya Mon!

I'm a doc, not a writer, I hated English and Literature and writing.  I like facts, and am boring, and my trip report will probably be the same!

Flight was normal for Air Jamaica.  1 drink.  Start the movie 2 hours into the flight so you can never see the end...The bus ride was not bad.  They are working on the roads, but it's NOTHING compared to the road construction on the way to Negril a few years ago.  Like the road to Negril, the road to Runaway bay will be very nice when completed.  We got a huge, coach-size bus.  That was nice!  We are used to the vans and holding on to keep from falling out of the seats.  Got to Hedo and check in was a breeze.  We were the last ones to get a room, I think, but we got a great one, just 20 steps to the nude pool, 40 steps to the nude beach.  I'm not giving out numbers because I want to request it next trip!  We do the same at Hedo 2 and they always accomadate us.  Our housekeeper was on vacation that week, so our room got cleaned at various times, between 9 and 5, by a fill in.  No problem, they did a great job.

The Resort----  Much smaller than Hedo 2, not near as much walking.  We could be anywhere in 90 seconds.    Snorkling was good, in 30 feet of water, so it's a different atmosphere than Hedo 2.   Got a great pic of a sting ray with a 6 or 7 foot wing span.  About the last day I figured out the staff takes you out on the sailboats instead of taking them yourselves, because there is a constant 15+ mph wind on the ocean and 2 foot seas.  Those guys are experts at heading directily into the wind.  We should have gone out.  The air conditioners are remote and digital, so they stay set at the temp you want.  First year at Hedo 2 we had a "popsicle" AC, and last year ours didn't work for shit, our room was hot, but as in a typical Hedo vacation, we never remembered to call and have it fixed.  It wasn't THAT big a deal, except when we wanted to sleep, and we didn't want anyone working on it then...So we really appreciated an AC that worked exactly right, with a remote to boot!   There were alot more insects at Hedo 3, I assume it's due to less vegetation, and therefore fewer lizards and tree frogs.  The flies and ants were annoying, and a large ant stung my neck one day.  In 4 trips to Hedo 2, we can't recall any insects to speak of.  Water pressure was great and always had hot water.  That was definitly a change!  The disco was not cool at all on PJ night.  We danced for 15 mintues and quit because it was cooler outside.  And who was the genius that decided all the drunks needed to climb stairs, or worse, decend them, at midnight??  Met a lady who tumbled down 6 or 8 steps on the way down one night.  I'm sure that's a regular occurance, esp. on PJ night when ladies wear high heels, because the steps are wood slats, with a nice sized gap right in the middle.  Anyway, due to the heat and the stairs, we never went back.  We christened the spot under the speaker on the east side of the nude bar the new Nude Disco.  The waterslide rocks.  It's a helluva lot easier when leaving the disco than going down 30 steps.  The prude pool was FILTHY.  Your feet slid along the bottom because of the slime.  I don't feel they clean the nude pool nearly as well as at Hedo 2.  First thing in the morning, you couldn't see your feet in the nude pool.  Then the party began.   By night the water is so murky, your knees are blury.  Never saw the bottom.  Yeah, we're going back. The food was a bit better than Hedo 2 in the main dining room, but who cares.  The chairs were very uncomfortable, and we cared alot about that.  Mealtime was not relaxing at all, and at breakfast, we missed Hedo 2's chairs.  These were metal backed, thin seat cushions, they sucked.  At Hedo 2 the chairs cuddle you and invite you to take your time and enjoy your meal.  At Hedo 3 they scream, "Get the hell out of here and leave us alone!"  All week we looked around, and 95% of the people sit forward, elbows on the tables.  The chairs do not allow you to recline.  Pastafaris is much nicer at Hedo 2.  At 3 the chairs again were terribly uncomfortable.  Wooden slat chairs like schoolroom chairs 50 years ago.  The booths were okay, but the place felt more like a big city cafe' than the elegant atmosphere at Hedo 2.  The food was comparable to Hedo 2.  Instead of Chardonnay, the serve a Saviguon Blanc, which was very good.  I ran out of wine completely many times each time we ate there.  Muhanas, or whatever the new name is, was very very good.  I gagged the sushi at Hedo 2, literally finding it difficult to swallow one piece, and ate every morsel at Hedo 3.  The saki was damn tasty, soup was fabulous, food great, service was fine.   The foliage was beautiful, seemed very mature, nice to look at and photograph.  Workers were prunning and cleaning up constantly.

The Staff-----The staff was very attentive and friendly.  Once I waited 2 minutes for a bartender, but usually it was about 10 seconds max before they asked what you wanted, and always with a smile.  Many times we ordered drinks only to have another bartender come over and asked what we wanted while the first was getting our order.  Anneka, Alex, Ivy, and Conrad all work with a smile and are excellent.  I didn't get to know many at the main bar, only Freddy, the manager, but they also were very quick to ask if you wanted something to drink.  David is the restaraunt manager and he spoke with us several times.  He is very attentive and desirous for the staff to do a good job, which they do.  I must say, the bartenders work with a smile in spite of some of the guests.  Often people had no respect for the staff, and that was sad.  We were amazed at how rude some folks were.  Not a majority by any means, but enough so that it was obvious.  Those folks better stay at Hedo 3 because they will be thirsty at Hedo 2!!   Respect Mon!  I don't think I heard a staff member say that, nor did I hear a patron speak it to a staff member.

Sleeping on the pier under the stars nekkid after trying to knock it down whilst shagging the first night was nice.  We awoke a few times to other couples enjoying the pier as we had.  There aren't many secluded outside spots like Hedo 2, but seclusion is overrated anyway.  Unlike Hedo 2, we never left the resort.  We had the best of intentions to go to Nine Mile and the Falls, but didn't make it.

Playboy's Nightcalls was there when we were and that was interesting.  Good shows, they gave us gift bags and photos.  One thing I was suprised at, is auctioning off the men for $2-400 an hour.  Sanctioned prostitution?  They didn't auction off the women though!  It's a shame also they allow and even encourage the use of video and still cameras during the theme nights because we don't want our faces on the internet at all.  So, even though we dressed up, we didn't participate because many people were in the front row filming.  Well over 3,000 people know my face, and my wife is as well known in her occupation, and odds are 1 or 5 of them go to voyer sites.  One reason we went to 2 instead of 3 was to get away from the photography, but it was worse at 3.  Yes, we'll go back.  I'm glad we tried it, we liked it, it's not fair to really compare the two places because they are different, with their own positives and negatives.  I can't imagine anyone being disappointed in either, esp. for a rookie trip.  Our advice is to try both places about 10 times each then decide......Desire here we cum....T
