Nicole and Brian's Trip Report 5/22/04
"There are no truths...there are only perceptions and opinions"
This is applicable not only in the real world, but in Hedo as well.
What ever you have heard about Hedo, what you were hearing was
that person's perception or opinion. And it became their truth.
The only way for you to find out your truth is to go yourself and experience
it. I have researched this board as much as I could in the time
available before our trip, and based on what I read, I had an idea in my head
what our trip would be like. I was so wrong. It was completely
different that what I planned, and yet it was the best vacation we have ever
had.
Let me start by how this trip came about. We are both
workaholics, however I am a business owner, and it forces me to be much more
responsible than my husband would like. We were coming up on our 10 year
wedding anniversary, and we were able to get my mom to fly down to stay with
our young daughter so we could go away. After calling around to get the
rates of "other" all-inclusives, my hubby and I got into a discussion where he
told me I have "forgotten how to play" and that my "inner child ran away".
The next day I went into the office and had a really bad day. The travel
agent called me back and I said "I want to book our vacation at Hedonism III
instead." Her reply was "You do know about that place, don't you?"
and I said "Not yet...but I will!" I will go to great lengths to prove a
point, and my point was I wanted to PLAY! To say Brian was shocked when
I informed him where we were going was an understatement! In fact it
took a lot of coaxing to get him excited about the potential for fun we could
have, and in the end, he was excited. I searched on the internet and
found this site (sorry, I had already booked, or I would have gone through you
Denny!) and the Wild Bunch's site. I joined us up with the Bunch because
they sounded like SUCH a fun group. It was neat to email each other and
exchange pics, and it made me feel like I had made a whole bunch of new
friends. I did not realize that would work against us later.
We had a great flight, we enjoyed the bus ride, and were lucky
enough to ride in with Wild Walt and Cheryl themselves! What an honor!
By the way guys...thanks again for the beer! We got to the resort and
the nervous anticipation of what we were going to encounter was building.
We have never done the whole public nudity thing before, and we were unsure if
it was our thing or not. We got to meet Robyn (you're a cool chick,
Robyn!!) George took us to our room (he helped us a bunch!) and as soon
as we got into the room , the first thing I did was start jumping on the bed!
Wake up inner child! You're home!
We walked around a bit, got some drinks and eventually ended up
at the buffett with the early arrivers of the group. Everyone was real
nice, and greeted us warmth and generosity. (Brian, we really
appreciated your sense of humor!) We were still a little wound tight from the
real world, so I'm sure we came across as less than exciting. After
dinner the two of us left the group to go exploring. The resort seemed
slow and we thought that was nice... ended up at the nude hot tub in the cold
rain...had lots of fun...you know who you are...thanks for the fun!
Next morning we went to the Canopy Tour which we highly
recommend...it was worth every penny we paid plus some. You are swinging
through the trees sometimes as far as 650 feet! Over gullys and ravines
and trees and rushing water. Inner child felt like Tarzan! That
took up most of the day. Went back to the room to take a nap.
Island time is sinking in now. We woke up late at night and went out for
more drinks and more fun.
Back to the Wild Bunch...They pretty much consume the nude
side, and that is where all the wild, crazy games are. It did not
take long for us to figure out this was a problem of sorts for us. You
can not hang out on the nude side if you are not nude. You can not
particiapate in the crazy games if you are not on the nude side. We are
a couple of freaks in our own right, however it is when it is under anonymous
situations. I made the mistake of becoming friendly with this group
prior to the trip...and for whatever reason, I did not feel comfortable
getting naked in front of people that "knew me" Even though we hadn't
really met, I still feel like we lost that anonymity factor. Sound
weird? I know, but that is how we felt. So then we go back to our
room and I was upset because I was confused on why I chose this resort, and
then it hit me. Hedo is all about OPTIONS. It's like an A LA CARTE
menu...you pick and choose what the resort has to offer to make it fun for
you. Not for anyone else, but you. This is where my favorite quote
came to mind...
There are no truths, only perceptions and opinions.
There is something for everyone at this resort. Mild,
Medium, or Hot! And if you just want to sample a little of this and a
little of that, it's yours for the taking. The purpose of this trip was
to find that kid that keeps running away from me, have wicked sex with the
most beautiful man to have put up with me for 12 years, and to remind my
ticking clock that island time is much better. So, off to the trapeze we
go!
If you can stand to be sober for 3 hours, you should really try
the Circus Clinic! It was such a rush and sense of accomplishment.
It is much harder than it looks, however the instructors were great and did
not give up on me! It is a total body workout, so expect to be sore the
next day! (Not to worry, Clover gives the best massage to work those
kinks out!)
We met this couple, Eric and Heather, and they became the
inspiration for us! They were at the level of complete bliss that we
wanted to achieve. They did not walk anywhere...they skipped. They
were never sober or unhappy. Eric was they funniest kid I've
talked to in the longest time. To any of you that were there the same
time as us, you undoubtedly know who they were, and I hope they left as much
of an impression on you as they did us. And if either of you are reading
this, email us because we have a picture of Heather sailing through the air!
We had so much fun at Munsana (the Japanese restaurant) We got
in to a full blown wrestling match, throwing each other into headlocks and
eventually ending up on the middle of the floor. We kept stealing each
other's hats and running around, Brian walked into the kitchen to see if he
could help, and I even hopped behind the grill to help cook. We
made quite a scene, and still didn't get tossed out. Gotta love HEDO!
Mr. and Mrs Cosmo Girl...Thanks for hanging out with us, it was
a lot of fun!
Al and Keisha if you read this email us!
Wild Bunchers... Thanks for everything! Sorry if we didn't rise
up to meet expectations. It just wasn't our thing.
Spike...Thanks for indulging us in your sweet ghetto onion
everytime you saw us! You are a great sport!
To sum up the rest of our trip...the staff is fabulous and the
service is on island time...accept it and relax. We loved our room, and
the pools and the waterslide. (The Quad is one of the best places to have
PDA's without a cheering section!) We laughed when we got busted for
being naked on the wrong beach (how ironic!), we met some really great people,
and my inner child is laughing and promises not to leave as long as we book
another trip to HEDO real soon.
Sounds like a deal to me.
