Hedo III Trip Report – D&L

This was our first trip to Hedo 3;  we visited Hedo 2 in ’99.  After reading so much detail in the trip reports on this site, we want to make this short and simple.

The flights to Montego Bay and back to Houston were on-time and uneventful.  The ride on the bus was long and bumpy.  We arrived about 1:00 and Toni assigned us a good room – 738 (not quite ready).  We went immediately to the dining room and had a snack, then to the nude pool until about 3:00.  Our room was still not ready.  We went back to making friends in the pool.  About 5:00 we got our room key, but our luggage was not delivered until around 6:00.

Our main observations are:

.         The people who frequent these resorts are what makes them successful.  We have made many good friends at both resorts and they are what makes all shortcomings seem small in comparison.

.         The H3 pool is adequate, but the volleyball needs to be played in the other pool.  The hot tub at H2 is much sexier and bigger.  The H3 grotto is misplaced and the waterfall pump on the grotto was not working.  There are so many people using the nude pool area that everything is cramped and crowded, which is often ok.  The prudes should be put there and the other areas made nude.  Be sure and hold on to the handrail when entering the pool via the steps.  The bottom is sloped and slippery.

.         One afternoon, we heard a loud explosion and all the alarms began blaring.  We  discovered that Jacuzzi pump in one of the room tubs had ignited a gas buildup (our conjecture) and blew out the windows on two rooms in the bottom floor of the blue building.  One couple had just checked into one of the the rooms, had filled and been in the Jacuzzi, then stepped out to shave when it blew.   Witnesses said that flames could be seen blowing out of the windows when the explosion occurred.  The adjacent room also suffered damage.  No one was hurt; the male occupant of the primary room had the hair on the back of his head burned.  We later found out that the resort offered him another week.   He probably could have owned the Blue building if he had tried.  We will never turn our Jacuzzi again at Hedo 3.  The workers started digging up gas lines immediately.  You can find a link to pictures of the scene below.

.         The H3 resort is attractive and compact.  The color schemes remind one of being in a sexy adult “Disneyland”.  There are very short distances to the individual areas.  The tropical foliage is very beautiful and well-cared for.

.         The H3 food is definitely better in the main dining room.  The area is rather small and cramped with all the big chairs.   The entertainment was very good, especially on Caribbean night (Monday).

.         Oil-wrestling was a blast!   Linda still has bruises and smiles a week later.

.         Thanks to our bartenders at Sophies’ grill (nude pool).  Sophie is wonderful!

.         The see-through hot tub was still not working.  Someone mentioned that it never has worked. (??)  The website for Superclubs still advertises it.

.         The disco opens around 11 P.M.  The music is very loud which usually does not bother us much, but the ambiance just does not click as well as H2.  What is the big deal about the slide running through the disco?  The slide is shut down at 5 P.M.  All the slide does is drip water on the disco floor.  The doors to the disco open inward – a fire hazard.  The steps leading down from the disco are too steep for inebriated high heels.

.         There were some locals on the premises during events and afterwards.  They caused no problems, mon.  One morning, there were two local males asleep on the exercise mats in the fitness room at 6:30 A.M.  Security came through and looked at them and then walked on.

.         There were fewer PDA’s at H3 than at H2.  Once the sex police told us to go to the nude beach to finish the wonderful massage I was getting by the pool.  We heard that there was  a lot of action during the 2-4 A.M. hours in the nude hot tub though.

.         The piano bar is small and uncomfortable.  There are no restrooms upstairs for this bar.  Stairs are also steep.

As we said, these are our observations about Hedo 3 with comparisons to Hedo 2.  What makes us return to these resorts are the wonderful people in this lifestyle who look past these small problems and have fun anywhere they are.  One of the reasons for pointing out the shortcomings of the facilities is to prepare future newbie visitors to enjoy themselves despite the problems which one might find at many resorts.  We hope to return soon.

Thanks to all our wonderful new friends for making us feel welcome.
