Dano & Ali - January, 2003
January 24-31, 2003
What can I say that hasn't been said already? We
arrived on a Friday afternoon with sunshine and 85 degree temps. And even
though that was the only sunshine we saw until Wendsday, we still had the time
of our lives. We met several great couples, some who we will keep in touch
with, maybe even for a future trip.
Now for the pro's and con's.
The only con that really bothered me was the beaches. They are man made, and
not very good quality. But if you are there to tan, and not swim that much,
then they are fine.
But the pro's made the trip
great! Our room (in the quad) was very nice and clean, with a great view of
the quad pool. Check-in was quick, though sometimes the front desk staff
didn't act very friendly. But they were quick to solve whatever problems might
arise. The EC's were fabulous! Every one of these people could be models (In
fact, Lust just signed a contract with Ralph Lauren!), And they made sure
everybody was having fun. Even with the 4 days of rain! Sweet was very
friendly, and made my birthday there alot of fun. And Fantasy, oh Fantasy. I
danced with her more than once at the disco, and let me tell you, that girl
can move! One night about 8 of us asked Lust (Mark) to join our little party,
and we just sat in the dining room for 4 hours while Lust told jokes, told us
about Jamaican life, and tried to teach us the language. I never laughed so
much in one night in my life! If you get a chance, invite him to sit down with
you and get to know him, he is a riot!
Another nice thing is there is
always stuff going on, usually put on by the EC's. And if you participate in
most of the stuff, they give you poker chips which you can use to buy bottles
of rum and ginger wine (Oh Yum!) to take home with you. Or not.
A couple words of advice to
anyone who goes. First and most important: it says no tipping allowed in big
bold print, but, these people don't make a whole lot of money. Trust me, if
you give your bartender 5 or 6 bucks a night, your glass will never be the
empty one. They will watch for you and take good care of you. Second:
learn the staff's names right away, especially the EC's and the bartenders. It
makes everything much easier and alot more fun. The scuba diving staff
even made a couple exceptions so I could get my C-card dives done.
Third: make reservations for the resturants as soon as possible for your whole
vacation ahead of time, or at least 2-3 days ahead. They fill up fast. Oh, and
if it rains, the tile in the main area get slick. I saw one guy break his
collar bone when he fell! And last: You have to do the water slide in the
buff, any other way is a waste of time. We made a point to do it every night
after we were done in the disco.
In conclusion, Hedo 3 is a flat
out party! Buy the end of the week I think my liver was really upset at me.
But it was the most fun I have ever had in one week. We were there the same
time as Jason and Tanya, Jan. 24-31, but don't remember them. But I will never
forget a lot of other people. You will see nudity, there is no such thing as
the prude side after dark. (Or during the day if you were with our group as
far as that goes!) And you will see PDA's, count on it. I even saw some at the
main bar. And Pastafari. And the Scotch Bonnet. And the dining hall. And
especially the quad hottub! So if nothing like that is a problem for you, hang
on. Your in for one hell of a time!!!!!
