Mike & Linda - July, 2002

Well, here goes.  We just returned after spending six great days at Hedo III, 7/30/02 through 8/05/02 with the Monsters of the Midday Radio group.  I am not sure if we had a pure "Hedo experience" or not, because of our large group (about 300) and another large group from voyeurweb.com (about 80) being there at the same time.

Travel.  We flew Air Jamaica from Orlando, Florida direct to Montego Bay.  The flight left about a half an hour late, and arrived in Jamaica late.  The process of checking in at the Superclubs desk leaves alot to be desired when there is a large group all trying to fill out paperwork at that little bitty counter....that procedure needs work.  I got 10 feet past customs when the first attempt to sell me some Ganja came from a Uniformed Customs Official!  Go figure.  The bus ride was long, but entertaining.  Our driver pointed out sites of interest and stopped about halfway through the trip for a Red Stripe/ Bathroom break.  It took about 1 hour and 20 minutes in good weather to get to Hedo III.  Once there, check in was rapid, the only hard part was finding a porter to take you to the room.  They have no maps of the property with room or building numbers on them anywhere.  They rely on a personal tour to acquaint you with the facility.  The room was clean, cold, and everything worked.  We did have to wait a few days to get a full compliment of towels, as various shapes and sizes would appear each day.  We were in the 500 building on the 3rd floor and had no noise problems at all.

Food.  The food was good.  Its basically a pretty extensive buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner, with alot of repeat items.  I highly recommend making reservations at Munahana and Pastafari for a pleasant change in menu and some excellent food.  I have read on the boards that they take reservations 2 days in advance, not true!  One day in advance is all you get, and during mid week one of the two restaurants is closed when the other is open.  Secret for getting reservations.....make them at 12:01am and get first choice for the following day...if you wait until morning, they will be all booked up.  They had a Reggae party and several other special theme dinners on the beach and on the pool decking where they changed up the menu with things like char grilled lobster tails and roast pig....very nice!

Pools.  You've heard it all before so I will be brief.  I have two complaints or caveats.  The steps are SLIPPERY!!!  They water is cloudy with suntan lotion and other potions too.  They really need to put some traction on the steps and on some of the tile areas under the Quad unless they enjoy lawsuits from broken guests.  Other than that, they seemed to go to great lengths to keep the hot tubs clean.  They completely drained them every day.  I witnessed them adding chlorine just before the evening crowd showed up as well.  Some days the pools were dirty, full of leaves and paper, etc. but most of the time they were pretty well kept considering the amount of carnage going on.  The Quad pool was alot of fun as our group hung out there most of the time, the Nude pool was the real center of entertainment though.

Girls Gone Wild times 10!  What can I say?  The nude pool was at times a quiet nudist hangout with many friendly couples and singles, and at other times was the center of wicked fun and games that I could have only imagined before!  Its amazing what can happen in a pool full of drunk, naked, friendly, and obviously overly horny folks.  What a BLAST!!  This was the fun place to hang out, be yourself, talk and make friends, enjoy the numerous "PDA's" and participate if you desire.  Its a good mix of peepers and showers so everyone seemed happy.  Be aware, your fantasies can become realities at Hedo...so THINK BIG!! LOL

Staff.  I have seen references on the board that the service was bad or slow, at times this may have been true.  But....you could tell that many of the staff were overworked, and were trying to get things done.  Some needed additional training, something that the resort manager told us he instituted about 6 months ago....it seems to be working.  We found that a smile, a kind word of encouragement, and alittle extra patience got us much better service than bitching and complaining.  You really need to be on "island time" when you are there and all will be well.  We were very happy with the staff, especially Romeo, a charming and friendly man.

The trip home.  Other than the obvious depression over leaving Hedo III, the only bummer was rolling out at O' dark thirty.  We had to have our bags packed and outside our room by 3am!!  I wasnt really keen on leaving my bags out in the hallway over night, but there was a noticeable security force present most of the time, especially at night, so I didnt lose sleep over it.  As it turns out, that was a waste of time, as all they did was take the bags down to the front desk where we had to reunite with them and give them to the bus driver and ride the bus with our own bags (as opposed to the inbound trip when our bags went to Hedo without us on a different bus) so we could check them in with Air Jamaica.  AJ pissed off alot of the Monster group when they did us a "favor" on our arrival.  They collected our RETURN TICKETS from us and told us they would pre book our return flight so we could just walk through when we departed rather than wait in a line of "5,000 people".  Well, as it turns out, we still had to wait in line, although we had our own special line, and all they really did was pre print our boarding passes.  So, after worrying about not having possession of our return tickets all week long, we got to the Montego Bay airport at 7:20am and waited in line with the rest of the cattle, only to find out that our flight was late....imagine that?  Our original 10:25am departure happened after 11:00am.  One note.  They dont assign a gate for the aircraft until it actually shows up and picks a parking place at the terminal, so be prepared to walk from one end of the place to the other.  Its a nice airport with shops and food....Jimmy Buffets Margaritaville opens at 9am!

I hope some of this is helpful to others who are thinking of going.  We took rafts which came in helpful because there werent many left from previous visitors.  I would also take something for swimmers ear because the pools are alittle "nutrient rich".  I have been home for 4 days now and am still trying to get the suntan lotion off my skin...LOL.  So, enjoy your trip and thank you to Denny for this website.....the information was invaluable in making our trip much better.
