Bob & Karen - June, 2002

WOW!!  1st time to Hedo III and both Karen and I believe this trip just can’t be topped – but we will try next year!  After booking the trip back in Jan, I noticed a group called the Cavedwellers were going to be there at the same time and was curious as to who they were?  After some internet searching and Denny P’s help, I was in contact with the group and they invited us in, this was the 1st and best decision we made on this trip.  For anyone considering going to Hedo III next year, there is “absolutely” no better group of people to spend a week with at a nude resort and feel 100% comfortable.  Getting to know the majority of Cavedwellers prior to the trip was a big plus for everyone.  Between the Hedo III Cavedweller shirts, tattoos, lanyards and ID tags we knew/recognized everyone who was part of the group very quickly.  OK – to the trip report.

We left Denver at 1230 a.m., connected in Atlanta without incident and arrived in Jamaica about 10:45 a.m.  We both used birth certificates vs passports, thankfully there was only one moment of worry when the Jamaica Air attendant wanted to know why Karen’s name was different on the Birth certificate than her drivers license.  Without any proof, she accepted her word when she said it was her maiden name but it made me wonder if we should have had our marriage license as well?  Upon arrival in Jamaica, it was somewhat confusing, as we did not know where to go, we just followed the herd of travelers.  This led us to Immigration, which we breezed through.  We then went to the Breezes counter, were told to put our luggage against the wall and wait for about 15 minutes for the next bus to Hedo.  45 minutes later, 7 offers of Jamaican weed, and one cold beer, we were on our way.  As all trip reports mention, the bus ride was an experience.  The bus driver said “if you see something coming at us, just close your eyes and leave the driving to me, I’ll get you there safe;” and he did.  Once there we asked for a room in Bldg 6 or 7 and promptly/politely said it was all full, but after some sweet talk somehow a room came open in Bldg 7, 3rd floor overlooking the ocean and part of the nude pool – we were in heaven.  We quickly dropped everything and headed to the nude pool.  Before we could get our clothes off we ran into Rhonda and Allan who recognized us from the website and that was the endless beginning of meeting all our internet friends over the next 4 days as they arrived.

But like most, Jetlag set in and the first day was pretty mellow with an early nightcap.  The next morning I woke with a migraine, so Karen went to the nude pool.  She came back about 2 p.m. with a strange smile on her face.  She told me about being at the pool, meeting several folks when they started a game.  Apparently they needed two female volunteers and this girl grabbed Karen’s hand and said let’s go.  It involved a banana and a glass of milk and they had 60 seconds to use their imagination – so you use yours :o)!!  Needless to say, I was up and out of bed, migraine or no migraine, I was not missing anything like this the rest of the trip!

We both felt the restaurants (Japanese/Italian) were very good.  We ate Japanese twice and Italian 3 times.  Our only bad incident was at the Japanese restaurant when the chef was about to serve the chicken to us, when a member of our group noticed the chicken was still raw in several pieces.  I think the chef took offense to this but bottom line, the chicken was not cooked thoroughly.  These are not 5-star restaurants, but I believe you are there for the camaraderie more than the food, so go there with an open mind like we did.  You will enjoy the food.

The staff was awesome, very courteous at all times, and there to help when needed.  Sean, Romeo, Takisha from the entertainment staff was great and you can’t say enough about their friendliness and smiles.  They will sit with you, they will talk to you and they will motivate you to be involved (but not push you).

The only trip we took off the premise was for the Chukka Cove horseback ride.  The ride itself was OK, with the highlight being riding/swimming with the horses in the Ocean.  My wife absolutely loved it, as a guy, let me tell you riding bareback on a high-spine horse does not do much for comfort with your package.  But I survived!

We also took two dives, but the ocean was a little on the rough side and Karen had to go back to shore in the rescue boat, needless to say she was a little motion sick the rest of the day (thanks to Annette and Eddie – she improved by mid-afternoon).  To me the dive was great, but from diving with experienced divers, they claim it was a little disappointing.  We saw eels, blowfish and  a few small stingrays.  I will definitely do it again next year.

The theme nights were great, but I do believe it was because we had such a large group of people, which made the activities fun, especially the piano bar and disco.  You could almost be as wild as you wanted – but as one couple found out, not “that” wild!  Where else can you participate with 64 nude people in the hot tub, 15 naked women on one floating double raft, 15 naked women dancing in the cage and of course the infamous nude run at the slide everyday at 4 p.m.

Only minor inconveniences during the trip – Air conditioning flooded our room on 3 separate occasions, hot tub was so hot at times, no one could use it, times there were no towels and a little too much rain/cloud cover, but it did help to get a free day next year.  Again, minor overall and nothing that would stop us from coming back again and again!!

I’ll leave the rest to be covered by others -  as I could write 10 pages and then Denny P. would have to reject it :o)!!
