This was our third trip to Hedo III, and it all started with an
e-mail.... just a simple question to someone posted on the visitor list. "So
tell me about the Jamaican Waterslide team." The rest is
history. The Jamaican Waterslide Team was going strong for the second
year.
After several months of contacting people from the visitors list, and lots
of planning we had a logo and tattoo contest for the people who joined the
team, and everyone voted for the best of each. We set up a
web site, a Yahoo club, Yahoo chats, made tee shirts, door cards,
necklaces, temporary tattoo's, and sent LOTS of e-mails. Finally we
were ready to go!!!
The Jamaican Waterslide Team hit Hedo III around September 5..and
continued to build in strength until September 13.(yes some were late
getting there).
Since most of us had never met face to face, we had to find each other,
and it was not to hard to find each other when you have a matching
necklace. They worked great!..Thanks to Tenna and Bo who took their time
to make all the necklaces.
And then the party was on.
We arrived at Hedo III early in the morning, and it seemed to
be the same as it was the last time we were there. Many of the same
faces working up front and at the main bar. It was like we had never
left. Our room was even ready when we arrived this time, and we
planed on not getting one until 3 pm..oh well...so much for plans. We went
to our room, then straight to the nude pool to find other JWST members and
introduce ourselves.
The first day was a slow day since we flew all night, but we were ready
that night for the toga party. Not to many people joined in, but we still
had fun.
Each day got better and better as the JWST members arrived, and we
just kept on going, and going, and going.
We even did our own "Mesh and Glow" party on Sunday night, and
it was great. Lots of "Mesh and Glow" !!!
As the JWST members arrived, we started to see more and more JWST shirts,
necklaces, and tattoo's around the resort. It seemed that our
tattoo's were the biggest hit at Hedo III, as almost all of the
employees wanted to have a tattoo. So we tattooed them.
Then we awoke to the Tuesday morning disaster. It was a very big shock for
most of us, but we all stood strong. As we found out that we could not
leave, and fly home, reality set in. When it is time to go...you do not
want to. But when you can not go home...you really want to go. It made it
hard for some of the people there, and new friends were made over the
disaster. I will never forget the look on the faces of some guys I had met
from New York, when I told them what was happening. Chuckie...my
prayers are with you, and I hope you get in touch with me when you can.
Tuesday went on. James and Tanya renewed their
vows, and Teena and Bo got married. James...I
hope all the film I used turns out ok. And Teena and Bo..we never
thought we would be in a Jamaican wedding...Congratulations to you
both, and thanks for asking us.
The rest of the week was quiet, the main topic of
conversation was getting home, and what had happened. We made the
best out of the wet tee shirt contest (good job Jenny, Kathy and
Chuck..you lucky man you), toga night, pj night, bare as you dare night,
and masquerade night.
Since many people were stranded there, we all tried to keep things
as lively as we could. Everyday people were checking if the planes
were flying or not. Simone and Bevon had their hands full, and did what
they could for the guests, despite the rumors that were going around. We
even got a very nice hand signed condolence letter from Kevin Levee.
To liven things up, we even had a wedding reception for a couple that
could not fly home in time for their planed one. Seems that about 30
people got out of the nude pool to toast them and wish them well. Only at
Hedo!! After a few toasts, it was off to the waterslide again. This time, JWSTurtle
was in the lead, with several nude followers all chanting...Turtle,
turtle, turtle...and so down the slide we went, turtle and all. After many
slides, we decided to go to the quad pool..and the chant started again..Turtle,
turtle, turtle...and we took over the quad pool for a drink. Then all the
guys decided that the water was to cold, so back to the nude pool we went.
Then we got the word...YES..Jamaican Air is flying..so off to the room to
pack and get ready to go home, and get our pre-check in at Hedo III by
Jamaican Air. What a sad time, but also a great time. We went by bus
again, but our suitcases went by truck, so check-in was very quick. We
went up stairs to the Jimmy Buffett's Margarita Ville restaurant, and had
a bite to eat, along with some beer for the long flight.
In conclusion...This was by far the best trip to Hedo that we have ever
had. The resort is still the same, with good food, friendly staff, and
lots of familiar faces working there. Thanks very much to Denny for this
forum, so we can get in touch with others going at the same time, and make
your trip the best it can be. We will be back next year, and are already
counting the days.
