Our trip was from 1/16-1/23/01.
This was our second trip to Hedo III. We
were there the same time last year. We have never been to Hedo II.
Not
sure we want to after hearing some terrible trip reports about the condition
of the place.
FLIGHT IN:
Left JFK with no problem Only complaint is that so called champagne flight.
What champagne? The one glass I was offered with breakfast. After
that I
never saw the drink cart!
CUSTOMS:
Unusually pleasant. Our first trip to Jamaica in 1996 they were miserable
and had terrible attitudes. I guess they finally figured out that we pay
their salary and we are here to stay.
BUS RIDE TO HEDO III:
This was a problem. They let the bus go without us. After 15
minutes of
Lauren bitching they finally procured us a smaller bus and put us with 2
other couples that were going to Ocho Rios. I gave the driver a five
dollar
bill to keep him from stopping at the roadside stand. This worked because
we
arrived at Hedo III at the same time as our bus did. At least the bus we
were supposed to be on!
CHECK IN:
Check in was absolutely fantastic. We were given a room in the 600 block
that we had asked for several days earlier on the telephone (even though we
didn't pay for it). Could 't have been more than 20 minutes and we were in
our room and stripping down.
THE ROOM:
We were a little disappointed in the room. Seems it was a little run
down
from last year. Nothing major but it should be upkept. The mirror on
the
ceiling over the bed was peeling, the drain in the tub wouldn 't drain and
the A/C leaked all over the floor. Two out of three fixed in the first
day.
Not bad. Had to suffer with the mirror.
NUDE POOL:
Still the place to be. Needs to be larger. Bar service has
gotten better.
Nola you are the best! Need to do something about towels. Buy more!
Chair
hogs need to go. If you are there you deserve a chair, if you leave, give
it
up!
THE FOOD:
No complaints here. Actually think it was better than last year.
Japanese
hasn't changed except they kind of push you out when you are done. No time
for conversing. I guess they are pressed for the tables. Pastafaria
is
excellent! Scotch Bonnet is great but needs to be kept open later for
dinner. Buffets were good and the breakfast delivered to your door is a
great welcome. Lauren needs her tea in the morning. Especially after
drinking and dancing all night.
ACTIVITIES:
Great as in the past. Would have liked to participate more but Lauren
doesn't like that touchey-feeley stuff unless it is from me. Seems like
even
the most innocent game of Dirty Dice got a little too involved for her.
Pajama party is still the best. It seems like that is the most
participated
night. Masquerade was great too but cleared out early. Bare as U
dare and
beach party we missed. That was our pass out cold night! Toga needed
more
energy and ended too quick. Best moment of the trip was parading the nudes
to the prude side shouting, "Better nude than prude" and going down
the
slide. at 4 in the afternoon. They all had their cameras out for that one!
STAFF:
The best. Crazy Sean you still owe us a bottle of rum for oil
wrestling.
Foxy, we love you and can't wait to see you again (whether it is here or
there). Nola, you are the best. Give me another hummingbird.
All the
staff, from the maid (Simone) to the dive masters (Max) to the front desk
(Marjorie) were the greatest. Service was exceptional all over.
Sorry if we
forgot someone!
FRIENDS:
The friends we made during the trip were the greatest as usual. Almost the
best part of the trip. (Sorry guys, best part was running around naked for 8
days). Hal and Penny, nice having dinner with you. Great outfit for
Masquerade night Hal. You and the boys! What a picture I Roy
and Lisa, you
guys are the best. Glad we met via the web before hand. Great
dancing. You
guys prove that white people can dance! Danny and Lady Janet from England,
can't wait for the wedding. We will be there! Maarten, you are the
man. I
don't think there was a soul that week that didn't like you! You had to
have
been the most popular guest. Everyone knew Maarten! Great pic for
you too
from Toga night. Bob and Lauren, sorry we couldn't have spent more time
together. Next year get your dates straight! Only kidding.
Norman and
Sandra, the candy people from Ireland, it was great seeing you again. We
need your address! Sorry if we missed someone. Even the people we
didn't
like, we liked in some way! All the Dirty Bananas, you guys are great.
Can't
wait until next year!
GOING HOME:
Actually good. Had a late flight. Didn't leave the resort until
3:30.
Uneventful flight home. Needed our own bed. Was good to get into it.
Now
we need to go back to Hedo again! Can stand to miss my bed for another
week
or so! Till next year...
