7/28/01 to 8/04/01       Debbie and Ari

This was our first trip to Hedo, or any “all-inclusive” for that matter, and we were so excited. We had heard about the crazy stuff that goes on there, and even though we aren’t into the “Lifestyle” we were excited about going to a place where you can do or be anything you want for a week.

There’s no reason to go into detail about actually getting to Jamaica. Yes, our flight was cancelled. Yes, it took 6 hours longer for us to get there than we had expected. But once we got to the airport at Montego Bay, we flew through customs and we were on the bus headed to Hedo in no time. We didn’t make any of the “Red Stripe” stops along the way that everybody talks about. The driver offered, but everyone on the bus had been through the same travel nightmare that we had, so we all declined. He did however point out every house occupied by a drug dealer, followed by “You didn’t hear that from me”.

We had expected to be put into a “pool view” room. To our delight and amazement, we were given room 713, right on the nude side. It was great. Maybe it was because we had checked in so late. Anyway, we threw down our stuff and went out to explore. The grounds are beautiful, but the whole resort is much smaller than I had expected. After a few drinks and some dinner at the buffet (the food isn’t great- stick to the restaurants if you can help it) we decided to go to the nude pool. The bartenders over there are great, and it was pretty mellow. Then the disco crowd came over. In no time there was “action” everywhere. Only one time during our week did I see a security person stop that kind of thing. So, if that offends you, stay away from the nude side. We’re not and we had some fun of our own in the cave and on the beach!

I won’t go through the details of the whole week; I’ll just give some observations. Take advantage of the activities and get involved in the silly games. The Entertainment Coordinators work SO hard and they are amazing. We went horseback riding and I highly recommend that- it was beautiful and we rode bareback in the ocean. Bring those big insulated mugs! The drinks are tiny. The nudity and the “swinging” factor were pretty mild- if you stay away from the nude side. After a few days it’s not really an issue, and becomes kind of funny. One night two women got up on the piano bar and were flashing everyone and simulating sex on each other. No big deal, but they could have been mother and daughter, so it was a little depressing to watch.

Definitely go to the piano bar and definitely do the slide nude! Those two things were a must every night we were there. Get a massage or a facial. MEET PEOPLE! The whole place is really fun if you open yourself up to it. The staff is great and very friendly. We can't wait to go back. It was a great vacation and I would recommend it to everyone!
