Wayne & Tamara - 09/00

My husband and I (we’re Wayne and Tamara) got married on September 2 and planned to spend a worriless, fun-filled honeymoon at Hedo III from Sept 3-10. We knew the wild and crazy reputation and thought it would be just what we needed to relax and “let-go”. If you’re looking for a trip report filled with high praise for Hedo III, this is NOT it. I would not go back, even if the trip were free. Let’s start out with the plane...it was okay. It was crowded and it didn’t land on time.... so what...we did, eventually, get to the resort with a nice bus ride from a safe driver who was very informative. At the resort.... Our room was not ready (we figured it would be that way), but it was several hours later before we got a room at all. We had to do a lot of griping to get in a room. The funny thing was that many others got their rooms right away. So, we went to lunch while our luggage sat unattended in the hot sun outside of the check-in area. For the next couple of days, we acclimated ourselves to the nude side, which is primarily where we stayed. Our first room was 711. (This info could be useful to anyone going in the future) By Wednesday, we were having a pretty good time, but had ventured outside of the resort to go shopping for souvenirs. The cab ride into the town and back (2h hours) cost us $60. When we got back that night, we had lobster on the beach, which was very nice. When dinner was done, we headed back to our room to get ready for the naughty beach games...:-) We got ready, but were supposed to meet some people at a certain location before going to the beach. We didn’t know exactly where it was, so, since there happened to be a grounds person standing near the front of our room, we asked him for directions. He told us that we needed to behind the buildings on the nude beach side and that we would find it. Well, we couldn’t find it. As we headed back, along the beach and behind the rooms, we were passing back by our room (711) as Wayne stopped as he noticed that someone was in our room going through our dresser drawers. He had our top drawer open with his hand inside. I tried to open the door, which has been partially broken, but it was stuck, so I stayed at the back while my husband went around to the front. When he got to the front, there was another grounds person who was coming out of the bush by our door. Eventually, we both got inside and asked the employee what he was doing in our room. The person, who said his name was Damon, said that he was delivering coffee! I asked him to radio for security and the other employee, who was still there, said they could not do it. He attempted to shake our hands while telling us there was “No problem, mon.” We went straight to the front desk to report this incident. It took a while, but we got to see a couple managers at the resort, along with the security supervisor. They did not call the police. A report was taken by security and that is all. We had to fuss and complain and justify why we were asking to be moved to another room! Keep in mind, the back door was broken on the outside. They didn’t seem to understand why we wanted another room. We were told that security would keep an eye on our room and that they would move us to a new room first thing the next morning. After that ordeal.... OFF TO THE BEACH GAMES! They were fun and MTV was there filming. It helped to distract our minds from the break in and distraction of the evening. The next morning, we were not moved to a new room. We called and were told to wait, wait, wait just a little longer. We waited until after NOON to be moved! To make this crazy story shorter, the management was not helpful. The resident manager, Mr. Lord was less helpful than the evening manager, Mr. Henry was. At least, Mr. Henry seemed sincere about our ordeal. After all, what it boiled down to was that we were on the only honeymoon we will ever have together and 4 days into it, we caught their employee going through our things after he broke into our room. Compensation? What we were told was that if we come back for a 6-night stay, we would only have to pay for four! As a courtesy to me, they sent that offer to me in writing, with the addition that this off is non-transferable and must be used before the end of 2001. How gracious! The ride to the airport was horrible. The bus driver almost killed us all. Before leaving the exit of Hedo III, he stopped to pick up one of his friends and then proceeded to fly through St. Ann’s Bay to drop him off at some house. The driver, literally, almost hit several other cars on more than one occasion. The ride was so dangerous and scary that I threw up on the bus. Thank goodness I had enough time to grab a plastic bag. Unfortunately, it had a hole...:-) The driver should have slowed down!

Basically, the trip was not enjoyable for us. There were a few fun things that we did, including the Dunns River Falls trip (outside of the resort), getting a massage, the naughty beach games, oil wrestling (pretty fun!), nude volleyball and meeting several nice people. But, as I said before, I wouldn’t do it again. We were not treated well and would not want to be treated that way again.

Despite me sending a letter of complaint to Superclubs, they have not, yet, offered me any additional compensation other than the 2 whole free nights. If anyone has any questions regarding my trip report, please e-mail me at Sillyme400@yahoo.com .
