We were Hedo newbies by default I would say. My wife was there to teach aerobics as part of the weekly schedule. Of course, she had to take me along. When she got her teaching assignment and it was Hedo 3, I snickered to myself and she wondered why. Within 1/2 hour of arriving she knew why.
We had travelled for a whole day just to drop the kids off and get ready for our flight out of New York. The first vacation alone in 12 years. Can you believe it? Anyway, we were a little uncomfortable with the way that super clubs stuck us with a driver by ourselves. The clown who brought us out to the driver, only carried our bags after we got outside, for that he asked for a tip. Oh well, it's part of the economy.
No red stripe, no bathroom breaks. Straight to the resort. When we arrived at about 7 pm Sunday evening, we had been travelling a total of 40 hours, between driving our kids from Virginia to Massachusetts and then driving back to New York for the plane. It's not easy getting a babysitter for 4 kids for a week. I digress. Anyway, when we arrived, they had no record of us. I wasn't in the No problem Mon mood yet. They got us a drink while we waited ( 1 hour). This is definitely time to go check things out. As fat ewould have it though, a great couple from Vancouver came along and rescued us. John was so friendly and outgoing I snapped out of my tiredness right away. We stood at the main bar drinking with Jon and Isabel starting to relax when all of a sudden 1 of three russian girls climbed up on the bar and pulled her top up. She laid on her back and another russian girl took salt and put some on herr nipple. Of course it would stick, so she licked her nipple and poured the salt, then poured tecquila in her navel and put a lime in her mouth. A vinnie, as we would soon find out what they were, was coerced into doing the famous "body shot". This happened about three more times to my delight. We then were introduced to another great couple from New York, who shall remain nameless. But we were friends with them all week.
Let me summarize the other aspects of the trip;
The food was very, very good. We mostly ate at the main dining facility. I don't think we missed a meal. It was diverse and plentiful and always tasty. We did eat with three other couples at the Japanese restaurant, that was very nice. Ask for Moses, he is delightful. Also, the Scotch Bonnet is great at Sunset, and though we didn't try it, everyone else loved the jerk Chicken.
The theme evenings were pretty much a bust. 70's night was fun for the song trivia, I won plenty of Hedo Bucks for knowing songs. The toga party was real fun, but not that many participants. Our best part was having a dressing party before the dinner. Pajama night was fun in the disco, but sparsely attended. If you watch TV in your room and are watching closed circuit tv of the disco waiting for it to pick up, don't be fooled. All the action could be at the bar outside the disco and on the slide. The slide was such a good time for me. I never saw so many seemingly reserved people drop their clothes to ride down the slide. It is, of course, a very fast water slide that travels through the disco (that part of the slide is clear) and into a pool below. This causes many naked people to walk around the main area at night. The glass bottom jacuzzi by the slide was super the second night we were there. We met so many couples that were having fun. Hats off to Jeff and Dani, the newlyweds. Dani you could sure ride that bronco very well, twice. We couldn't help but notice. We were only three feet away.
The water sports were good, take advatnge of the knowledgeable staff.
The trapeze was fantastic. Even though I didn't do it properly, I enjoyed it and my wife was very good. Isabel was in the circus performance that they hold on Saturday but we had left. I hope she did well.
Meeting people was no problem. The nude pool and jacuzzi was the friendly place on earth that week. We saw some things at night, and a few during the day, but had great fun all around. We will be going back in October and probably will bring a couple or two with us. Thanks to the staff for a wonderful time. Sly, Michael, Tristan, Angel, Debbie, Stretch, Lucky, Romeo it goes on and on. They were all great.
