Staci & Nikki - 09/00

Lets me start by saying that this web site was wonderful. We met a lot of people online prior to going and it made for a very fun time.

Okay to begin Staci and Nikki- Two girls traveling together. The flight down on Air Jamaica was terrible- I had read mixed reports so I wasn't upset but we left Newark airport at 7:00 am (since it is international we had to be at the airport by 5:00) and we stopped in Baltimore. we didn't see a stewardess until 3 1/2 hours into the flight (and all we wanted was a cup of coffee). They bombarded us with all this propaganda about Air Jamaica but it certainly wasn't filmed on our flight. But anyway we finally arrived at the airport around noon. Took the bus over - the ride wasn't to bad but we were made to stop for those Red Stripes (really dumb cause all the drinks are included in the resort) and we just wanted to get there in time for lunch (we were starving since what food they eventually did give us on the flight was close to inedible). Needless to say we didn't make it there in time- So we get to the resort around 2:30 Check in was ok- but We were promised an upgrade which we didn't get until Nikki spoke up. So we did manage to get the 800 building 2nd floor. I loved the location very close to everything. We get to our room and much to our dismay the Remote for the TV, the remote for the air conditioner (we didn't even know it had one until 3 days later) and the CD player were missing. I took 4 trips to the front desk to get the remote for the tv, which I could have lived without except the tv is mounted kinda high in the room very hard to switch channels manually. (it was a good thing our room wasn't to far from the front desk I walked there a lot that first day). A side note we eventually did get our CD player (4 days later). So know we are in the room and we are hungry so we see there is a grill from our room and we walk over there to get a burger. It is on the nude side which we didn't realize right away so when we walked over everyone kinda looked at us in our clothes. We hadn't got the nerve up yet. We arrived on Thursday -Toga night We were prepared and we dressed in our togas..boy were we surprised at how elaborate some of them were. But since we traveled from early morning we kinda crawled into bed way to early to appreciate all the festivities. Friday morning the sun is shining - we don our bathing suits and debate if we are brave enough to go to the naked side. Well after 15 minutes we took a deep breath and went for it. 30 sunblock on the important parts and we walked over towards the pool. Since the beach was down the stairs and more secluded we decided to hang out down there. We dragged two beach chairs submerged ourselves in the ocean a great way to keep cool with the hot sun. So now the vacation has started. The shy girl who was afraid to take off her bottoms by the end of the week was dancing naked in the disco. The spirit of Hedo is contagious. I am not going to bore everybody with a minute by minute details, so here are the highlights. Took the Dunn's River Cruise Tour- it would have been really fun except for the rain. it started the minute we got on the boat and didn't stop .....It was cold and hard rain with thunder and lightening. What a experience to be on a boat in a lightening storm. The tour guide said "It was going to be a wet trip." and boy was she telling the truth. But it still was fun. Masquerade ball- most people didn't participate. Kinda disappointed. Saturday night was the MS Black Nude pageant, for us it was kinda lame. We just wandered around. Monday night was 70's - that was fun- I wailed in music trivia. Tuesday was pj night. We wore baby dolls and nobody looked at us twice. After midnight pajamas were optional. Some of the outfits were way cool. It was wild, wild wild. Wednesday night was bare as you dare, and people did. Beacuse of the rain beach activities were canceled and it became an indoor party.

In conclusion.... Have an open mind you will have a lot of fun. Jamaican men love white women but NO does work eventually. Bring 30 sunscreen, and watch out for the mosquitoes they apparently like American bug spray. Bring big cup-walking back and forth is annoying...but Nola was excellent. Register for restaurants as soon as you arrive. Food really was better in the restaurants. Register on the visitors list-getting to know people before you go really makes it more fun.

Overall we will be back----the savings account is already started
