My wife Looie and I left Atlanta on July 8th this year for my 11th trip to Jamaica, but my first trip to Hedonism. I chose Hedo III because it was new, and had a reputation for fun, good people, and great facilities. I seem to have chosen well!
The Air Jamaica flight was on time and comfortable, as usual, and we went through customs without a hitch. The 1 1/2 hour ride to Runaway Bay was uneventful, and it was good to see the countryside I enjoy so much. We got to the resort about 1pm, and our room was ready for us in no time. I had asked for a ground floor room in building 600 or 700 (based on your web site info, Denny!) and a room with a king bed. We were given room 713 on the ground floor, but no king bed. 2 out of 3 wasn't too very bad, I guess.
I was very curious about this place, being a true Hedo virgin. Was there going to be reason to regret my choice of resorts, or would I feel comfortable around all the party animals that were supposed to be lurking around every corner. Mind you, I am a man in his early 50's, kinda lumpy like most men my age, and had never been on a nude beach in my life. I had taken (for me and my equally concerned wife) a deliberate risk, even going so far as to ask for a room as close to the action as we could get. It turned out to be one of the better decisions I've made.
If anyone wants to ask me what makes Hedonism III go, I'll tell them it's the people. The staff AND the guests. Never were we ever made to feel unwelcome, or to feel pressured into doing anything we were not ready for. Nudity? After 24 hours or so (so I'm a slow learner!) it became a non issue. The people around the nude pool and Jacuzzi were friendly and just as lumpy as I was. So what? We all got to being just folks, and clothes didn't matter anymore. Fun was the order of the day, and a tall Bailey's on ice to keep things mellow was always just at my elbow. I cannot remember enjoying my stay anywhere nearly as much. I'm a wholesale travel agent with a major East Coast tour operator, and you can bet your bottom dollar I will be recommending this place to anyone who will listen.
I would be remiss in my notes if I did not make mention of several of the staff who contributed so much to our good times. Lacey - you should see the pictures we got - you'll love them! Thanks for being a new friend. Juicy, I hope that you continue to flourish. Punky, thanks again for the good times you helped create. Hey, Night Nurse! Keep on truckin' . A special thanks to Donovan and Tex in the water sports center. You guys showed me the best snorkeling in my 10 years in Jamaica! And I will not forget Nicole and Allison in the spa - Looie and I both got full 1 hour massages - twice! Worth every penny, and I'll do it again next time.
There will most certainly BE a next time. Maybe later this year, or maybe next summer, but you can count on as many repeat visits as I can financially manage.
If you read this and the other trip reports in this site, and are maybe not sure about a visit, put your fears aside and come join the party! - You won't regret it.
