A Quick (Second) Trip to Hedo III – Third week of January

Sonia & Gary

Our Second trip in less than a month – Hard to imagine but yes, we had that much fun.

This time – Air Jamaica and us – arrived with our luggage. A wonderful experience.  Just like our first visit – we enjoyed the van ride to the resort. Time to relax with a Red Stripe (or was it four) and get ready for the fun ahead. Less than ten minutes out of customs and we were on the road. We had the van to ourselves and took full advantage of the privacy. (Read this as – Gary was in great spirits by the time we hit the resort)

Not generally so spontaneous, we actually made the decision the week of our trip to go for it.  With a few calls, and a ridiculous airfare, we returned to beautiful Hedo III less than 72 hours after we started talking about it seriously.  A very dear friend, Rob from Western Canada, had been at the resort since January 3. We thought it would be fun to spend some “spur of the moment” time together. He actually stayed on property for more than a month. We’re sure he will have one of the most comprehensive trip reports written.

Were they ready for us so soon we asked ourselves?

Upon our arrival, we immediately saw the (new) love of our life, Simone Sutherland. Our paperwork at check-in was extremely prompt, and Simone showed us to our room in the 600 building. During our two visits, we’ve experienced absolutely no delay at check in. If and when we do – we’ll simply head to the pool and relax – No Problem Mon – It’s only stressful if you want it to be!

Again – we love the 600 Building. However, for the purpose of this report – nude area, quieter building – try for 700. Or peaceful, (translates to great for reading) – The Swim up rooms at the Quad pool.  A beautiful area – sort of off to itself. Definitely low key on each of our trips.

Immediately following the proper placement (or displacement) of most of our clothing, we proceeded to the pool area where I so shamelessly announced – WE’RE HERE!  The only disadvantage to our quickly planned trip was that we had not “Pre-Met” friends from Denny’s message board prior to our arrival.  My announcement had to take the place of at least two dozen e-mails.  And yes, Gary tried to duck and head the other way as I made my entrance.

A quick trip to the pool bar (Lincoln & MJ are fantastic) and we were ready for the hot tub.  It took much longer on this trip to connect with people that we will probably consider friends for life – at least an hour.  As I write this, I’m thinking how crazy but how real that actually is. Between day one and day two we developed some great relationships.

Of course our friends Robert - Megan & Kurt (That’s Megan with the great Birthday dress & suit), Dee & Steve (Thank you Dee for the music and …your great attitude), Todd & Cindy (That hot green dress…), Danny & Jessica, Pete & Peg, Bob & Chris, and Birthday Michael were great!  Suzy Q, Cathy & Monique were lots of fun while they lasted – they had to leave too soon. Carol (my artist) and George were also wonderful – but they too had to leave the day after we arrived.

On the second afternoon following a great hot tun inducing rain, a SuperClubs veteran couple (Todd & Cindy) confessed that the hot tub gang was as fine as any they had ever shared space with at Hedo II.  We all took that as a great compliment. Lot’s of wine tasting going on between 3 and 6 that second afternoon.  Did I mention Body Shots?  So many Body Shots, so little time. Everyone that was there will remember “We need holders!”

Without getting into to much detail – we will refer you to Roberts trip report for all of the do’s and do nots at Hedo III.  Make sure to read all of Da’ Rules before you decide to go.  We strongly suggest that you do not visit this property unless you are ready to have the time of your life.  The people make the party. If it seems too quiet after you’ve arrived – Change it (if you want). It’s just that easy.

The Staff

Just a few words this time. Read our first report for a bit more detail. Outrageous, Incredible, Superb, Friendly, Fantastic, Accommodating – You figure out the rest.  We were fortunate to meet Kevin Levee on this trip. He has assembled the best staff we have seen (collectively and individually) on any vacation or business trip we have made.  Simone Sutherland, as mentioned previously, really made us feel special.  Her title, Guest Relations Manager means she gets to deal with the good and the bad. Treat her fairly if you have any problems – and she will make things right. She has an incredibly positive attitude. We’re sure she will go far with SuperClubs if she wants to. (We can’t even imagine having problems because we literally didn’t hear of any on either trip) – Woops! – the Hot tub was a bit too cold on a couple of occasions – Not a problem Mon unless we wanted it to be! – Nicole, the best massage you will ever have. Splurge – go for an hour.

The entertainment crew – Tristan (Nurse), Sly, Maureen (Stretch), Lucky, LaToya, Fabian & Angel were great. They really know how to interact with everyone in a way that makes even the most quiet among us want to party!  How they maintain the energy level is hard to figure. However, on both trips we were totally impressed.

Security – Plentiful but non-invasive. Generally speaking, very comfortable.  I actually left my purse behind at one of the bars and it was not found while we were on property. Just four days after returning home – a special delivery package arrived. My purse, with the cash, credit cards and phone that I thought had been lost forever.  – (See words describing staff above)

Nude pool bar design – Silly, but who really cares. Treat the bartenders with respect and they will have your drinks on the bar as they see you coming. We found the bar service to be excellent at each bar we frequented.  Even if you don’t get to know them, they will make the stretch so you don’t have to.

The Fun

We truly had a great time on both trips.  Our friends from each trip will remember the piano bar as a very hot spot. Remember, it’s what we make it. Karaoke on the first night with LaToya was great. Kool and the Gang was on property for the Jazz festival, and one of the gang did some singing. Bodyshots on the Piano gort things rolling a bit later. The Piano player on Sunday night couldn’t sing (sorry but he really couldn’t) – But… We all had the time of our life. Megan treated Kurt to a 40th Birthday that he won’t soon forget – Trophy and all!  Dee was dressed so fine we didn’t recognize her at first – but when we did… Cindy & Todd – mmm – what a great couple. So many folks joined in the fun. Our observation is that nearly everyone on property wants to do things they won’t do at home. One of the nice things about Hedo III is that everyone is generally “upscale” – I hope that’s a fair thing to say, it’s not meant to be a comparison to anywhere – just a statement related to this property. We found the average age to be between 35 and 45. There were also plenty of folks younger and older. Everyone seemed comfortable with the environment.

Make sure to participate in the activities.  Bodypainting is an absolute must. I’d never done it before trip one, and it really helps to get a lot of people moving in the middle of the day. Ask an entertainment coordinator to get the ball rolling – I’m not sure that it’s any type of a scheduled event. They will break out the materials if you ask them to.

The wet-t and best buns contests were a riot. Remember, just like with the lottery “You’ve gotta play to win”

The Food

Who Cares?  But if you do – It’s great. All was much better than we expected. You won’t go hungry. Presentation and quality was excellent.

Next Vacation

Hedo III  Most likely June 24 – July 1.  We can’t wait to get back.  It’s funny, when we first visited Denny’s web-site, we thought it was crazy that many folks had visited Hedo II for 10 or 5 years in a row. After just two trips to Hedo 3, we can’t imagine going anywhere else.

Running out of time and energy. Feel free to e-mail us with any questions.  If you go – we really suggest that you send Denny a trip report. It’s a great service he is offering to all of us.  For first timers, we’d also suggest the Hedo II Book written by Chris Santini. Check the Hedo 2 message board to easily find the book. It truly helped us prepare.
