HEDO 3 - TRIP REPORT
TRIP DATES : 9-25 to 9-29

Here is our long awaited trip report. Sorry it took so long to get out!!!!

We were lucky. We did four days at Hedo 2 in Negril and then went over to Runaway Bay for 4 days at Hedo 3. This was our first trip to any Hedonism resort. When you read this remember  we had an incredible 4 days at Hedo 2 first. It was very hard for us to leave Negril after making a lot of great friends and being apart of everything we could get ourselves into. However, we did it-We left Hedo 2 Bright and early on Sunday morning by TimAir. Both of us must have looked back out the plane window a hundred times as we headed to Mo-bay. The flight was great and it was time to change our mind frames. Our vacation was not over- It was starting over!!! Yeah, Hedo 3 here we come.

TRANSPORTATION  TO RUNAWAY BAY:

We arrived at the Timair desk and asked for a shuttle back to the main part of the airport. Here we caught the bus to Hedo 3. When we arrived at the shuttle bus lot the craziness began. The guys must have loaded us and our luggage on to three or four bus/ vans. I think this shuffle is a game they play to create more tips for those touching your bags. Everyone gladly helps you with a smile- put then out comes their hand. After about the third bus, we had lost track of just where our bags were. And almost lost track of where we were. I crawled around and located everything including my wife. Finally, we were off.

We had a very quite group on the bus ride. A couple going to San Souci and another going to Hedo 3. I was still excited from Hedo 2 and tried to get things going, but no luck. Everyone was holding on to there seats. Henry our driver was a typical driver. He was very friendly but all over the place. We almost got a goat!!! The trip took a little over one hour and was ok. The scenery was nice and the road wasn't that bad. You can see Hedo 3's colorful buildings from a ways away because there are no large tree's or greenery yet. We were there!!!!!

FIRST DAY:

We were greeted by some very friendly bellman .They gave us instructions and told us not to worry about our luggage.  We were directed  to the front desk where there was not a single happy face. My wife first quote- "must be problems". There was. Everyone at the desk was bitching about something. We heard people say things like- "We have no bed in our room" to "This place sucks".  There were travel agents everywhere and we we not sure what to expected. When in doubt- GET NAKED!!!! So we did. We grabbed two dirty banana's and went off for the nude  pool. This place is much different then Hedo 2. It is very colorful, pretty and new. The room blocks are 4 stories high and most are oceanfront. The view is great- hedo 3 is built on a point . We walked around until we found the nude pool and finally we were naked again. I instantly went to the bar and be-friended Alvin the head bartender. However, Alvin does not want to be called Alvin. He too wants to be like Michael Jordon-- Call him M.J.. M.J was great and before long had us back in the right frame of mind. There were maybe 10 people by the pool.  Mostly older folks but very friendly.  This place was missing something!!!!! It was energy. There was none. At least it seemed that way to us after Hedo 2. Everyone was naked and smiling but it was quite. We stayed by the pool until 5:00pm and were now in a very happy state.

I went to the desk to get my room key. The lady unhappily handed me a key and sent me on my way like a bad little boy being sent to my room. Room 633- Oceanfront yellow building she bark. The bellman told me he had put our luggage in the room already.
When we got to Room 633 the key did not work. It took 3 hours to get a manager to help us get in our room. The Manager was rude, unfriendly and basically a real bitch. So much for the hospitality. They had all had a bad day I guess!!!!If we had  not been so happy we would have been really pissed. Or should I say more pissed.

The room was very nice and we had a bed. So I guess we were better off then some. There was a Jacuzzi tub in bath room with a view right down on the nude pool and the ocean. The room had a TV-CD radio- nice little sitting area and a leaking ceiling. All in all very nice .

Went to dinner in main dinning area and food was great. Here to- the place was just dead. There were plenty of people,  just     again no energy. I know there were lots of people there that were not  on the travel freebie thing. DIDN'T ANYONE WANT TO HAVE FUN???? The staff was trying to get people involved but there were very few takers. We left and went for drinks at the Jamaican restaurant on the oceanfront. This place is very basic. Picnic tables and candles- ( Great Jerked Chicken and grilled fish). On the top level there is a small bar and a view of most of Runaway Bay.( Nice sunset place) We had a couple drinks and decide to once again get Naked. Got to hot tub and there was no one in sight. Except for a bartender that enjoyed watching us in the tub!!!! Stayed until 12:30am and only saw a few by-passers. Went to bed wishing we had stayed at hedo 2.

DAY TWO:

New day!!! THANK GOD!!!  Went to desk to find a schedule of days events. Once again no smiles and no luck. I was told that a staff   activities coordinator would be in later, not to worry.  Decided we try the waterslide. This slide starts at the top of the Disco, goes through the disco, and gets pretty fast. It dumps you out in the main pool area by the main dinning room. Being naked here is ok, at least no one said anything to us. The people on  the walk through tour looked a little surprised though. Left slide in search of our only buddy M.J the bartender. Once again M.J. came through and got us laughing.  Did get a little show at the pool. There are area's that have spouting up water. Two ladies enjoyed themselves over these spouts. Some people laughed and enjoyed it, others  read there books. There were to many book readers by the pool. We needed more spout riders.

After a pretty good lunch we tried to go water skiing. They do have plenty of water sport here. However, check with staff in water sports office about schedule. Water is very rough in Runaway Bay area. They do some stuff only in the morning when surf is  more calm. We found it is best to plan a day ahead with them. Did not get to ski. Went back to the bar.

No planned activities on Monday night so we made our own. Again, not much going on. We saw lots of Tv's on in the rooms from the hot tub.

DAY  THREE:

Finally met some cool people.  Spent all day in the sun and listened to others Hedo experience's. M.J started getting the ladies to  do  naked upside down shooters on his bar. This was fun. Soon came dimpple and belly button shooters for us guys. People were having fun. I could not believe it. ENERGY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Fun afternoon.

Should have made people stay at pool. Nighttime was back to Quite ZONE!!!!!!! We heard that a lot of people had been unhappy and left. Many people worked out deals for free nights and a group of ten were sent to Hedo 2. We wanted to go with them, but were leaving the next day. Saw no sense in that. End up in room at ten with TV on. THERE WAS NO PJ PARTY on TUESDAY>

DAY FOUR:

Had a real nice lunch at the oceanfront restaurant.  Went to pool and did water slide thing a few times before we had to leave. There is a hot tub in the main pool area. This tub has a glass bottom and there is a cave underneath.  When you are below looking up, it looks like a fish tank and is very clear. We saw some friends from the nude pool go in the cave- so we ran to the tub, jumped in and gave them a little show. They laughed and enjoyed the fun. This will be fun when this place gets going. We got dressed checked out and made it back to Mo-bay airport no problems. Hate to be home!!!!

Helpful Info:

NUDE SIDE- PRUDE SIDE:

This is a term that really does not exist at Hedo 3. The way the place is laid out is much different then  Hedo 2. There is a nude beach and pool, and a main pool/beach.  And they are separated. However, the rooms are not separated. Almost all oceanfront rooms look out on the nude pool area. The nude beach is very very small. They are building two sun docks (boardwalk things) on each side of beach to create more space. Nude beach was not impressive at all. The nude pool and hot tub was also very small. Very nice- but for Hedo who was on the planning committee. NUDE AREAS LOOK LIKE AFTER THOUGHT!! Main beach and pool are very large and great. I think they should switch them. When this place gets going there will naked people everywhere. There's just not enough space in the nude areas. We went naked just about everywhere and no one said a word.

DINNING:

The main dinning area is right off from the front desk. It is pavilion style-open air, and very nice. It's about a third of the main dinning area at Hedo 2 but nicer. The food is buffet style and was maybe a little nicer then 2. There is a Pastafari restaurant and we heard it was good. They will have a Japanese Restaurant also- Not opened yet. Best we had was the oceanfront grill. Great food and view. Sunset are beautiful. This place is casual. We found friendly staff here.

Ocean Water:

Water here is very rough. Watersports must be scheduled. Water is pretty and we heard the diving was pretty good. Snorkel and dives are done near sunken planes. Sailboats and water-skiing was limited. Again, there is no information on this stuff- so if you are interested make sure you do the planning ahead of time.

Staff:

Front desk and management was under a lot of pressure when we were there. During our stay they would have received an F in all areas. This will improve I'm sure. It can't get worse. If you are traveling soon be prepared. Wait staff-Ok . Bar staff-ok  MJ  is great.
Activities Staff- they are new and it shows. They are trying to be like Shaka with no success. They are friendly but have not mastered the skills of getting people involved. This to will come.

We were glad we saw Both Hedos. If we had to do it over again we would have stayed at hedo 2. But remember this place is new. There  are still many wrinkles  in all area's. Next year Hedo 3 will be happening!!!! If you want an upgrade from hedo 2 with a little better food- nicer room- waterslide, hedo 3 could be the right place. For us though- we have already booked Hedo 2  for next year!!!! SEE YA!!!!
