Chris & Kathy, Breezes Runaway Bay - 07/00

Breezes Beach and Golf Resort, Runaway Bay, Jamaica 29 Jul 00-2 Aug

Positive Comments: Friendly people, good booze, not overly warm, always a breeze, Good Scuba and dive shop, good buffets, great grill on beach, great Italian restaurant(Ladies bring a sweater, ie. it was on the cold side), the grounds were kept nicely clean

Negative Comments: Too windy, a lot of the boat rides (ie, Hobie cat) were shut down due to the wind, not enough hammocks on beach, nude beach not emphasized, organized events in the evening were not real enthuisiastic (more of a daytime crowd I guess), The upper floor of one building had to be shut down due to a bad air conditioner ( note: everyone who could not be accomodated was sent to Hedo III. Some people jumped at the chance, some were begging to come back the next day). Small jacuzzis (note: both the nude and prude jacuzzis are poorly located. Neither of them is near a bar or fun area. Hence they appeared to get very little use.)

General Comments: Breezes is not a big party atmosphere. They seem to be oriented to the laid back, slightly more conservative crowd. Of the six in our group four dont plan on going back due to the lack of a party atmosphere where group participation was concerned. In the five days we were there I think I saw one woman on the beach with a thong and no women went topfree. The nude beach was very secluded but then they allow guests from FDR ( the resort next door) to walk through it. While this didnt bother me, but it did some people. As for the golf, go early in the morning or its hot. As for beach snorkling, the nude beach is better but nothing spectacular for seasoned divers/snorklers.

All in all, a good time but its time to move on. It would, however, be a good place to take teenagers (16+).

Cheers, Chris and Kathy
