Steve - December, 2013
Background: been going to hedo since 2002 during the same time period,
did not go last year as we felt the value for money was just not there
anymore. Decided to go back this year and see how the improvements were
going. Report is a little long winded so bear with us,
Arrival: not going to bore you with flight details other than to say our
asses will never be in a Canjet seat again, arrived at hedo, was told
our room that we booked last Jan was already given to some one else so
we were getting a free upgrade from Nude side ocean view hot tub to
premium room with hot tub. Note to Hedo- when you sell a room twice then
move someone, it is not an upgrade it is covering your ass. Arrived in
room, nice room, however not a fan of see thru bathroom doors, all in
all i think we would prefer the older hot tubs rooms.
The
Worst: on arrival in a “premium” room, no water, none, nada, zero,
zilch, no phone either so can’t call front desk, walk back up to front
desk told it will be fixed asap, 3 days with no water, filling waste
bucket from hot tub so we can flush the toilet, 4th day lo and behold
water, until the afternoon then only hot water, was not fixed until the
5th day. did get 1 night free voucher for 5 days of no water (after
visiting front desk 4 times). Light behind mirror on ceiling was
continually flashing red every 4 seconds, took them 3 days to fix that.
no wifi in room when we asked we were told that they only upgraded the
room, not the services that come with it, that is like telling me i am
upgraded to first class but to bring my coach seat with me. front desk
staff very abrupt and in dire need of some customer service service
training, due to these issues i would give Hedo a big red F on their
customer service.
The
Bad: sewage problems all week over the whole resort, washrooms by piano
bar out of service for over a week. tipping is open and blatant, even
seen people just dropping bills on the bar tops, nude beach no longer
means nude, on several occasions i counted more fully clothed people
than naked (yes really i counted), and not just the bikini bottom thing,
i mean people fully clothed like they were heading home, cameras were
also in abundance. Wally’s and vinnies in full force and most of them
were the clothed ones, must up the creepy factor for some of the women.
Entertianment staff still taking over the piano bar at night, both hedo
staff and group entertainment staff, this is a big turn off as this has
always been to us about guests, not TT entertainment staff or
nick/winston duo. speaking of Nick and Winston (and i am sure i will get
flack over this) but i think it is time for them to go, they have become
to comfortable in their roles and i am seeing/hearing songs/acts that
were the exact same as three years ago, 2 years ago etc, if they or
management do not respect the guests enough to update the entertainment
over this period of time then it is time for a change
The
average: food was average until more groups started to arrive then
quality increased dramatically, i did notice that portions at harry san
and martini’s have gotten smaller and the mussels were missing from the
anti pas to bar (bring them back as well as the curried conch at the
buffet). piano bar is different with the new guy Kumar, not better or
worse just different. lot of painting going on and new cushions in the
dining room, staff seemed a lot happier than on last visit. pizza at
nude grill hit or miss, ordered sausage pizza one night and they used
those god awful red hot dogs as sausage. service in main dining room was
hit or miss,
The
Good: patties at nude grill, food and service at prude grill excellent
as always, won three free days at party, grounds (as always), piano bar
The
Outstanding: Lorna, we renewed our wedding vows after 28 years and Lorna
did a amazing, fantastic, outstanding, excellent job..thank you very
much, Eldon great as always, Tanisha B in the main dining room, Serena,
fun as always, Damien who took care of our hot tub, Sandy from TT great
job as always. a special thanks to all those who helped/participated in
our vow renewal (did i mention Lorna did an amazing Job).
The
WOW: during our stay we were approached by an another couple who do
photography and they offered to do our vow renewal pics for FREE, never
met them before, i mean how cool is that, not sure if i can post there
company info but message me and i will send it to you, got a look at the
proofs before they left and they were awesome!!!!, Charlie, gentleman as
always, thanks for escorting Lynda down the isle or beach, Z&Y, D, S
(names have not been published to protect the guilty) thanks for
everything, it took a while, but now we know what people mean when they
talk about the Hedo family
Verdict: will be back next year, looking to see if improvements in
infrastructure are done, (i think most people would pick infrastructure
upgrades rather than new paint) customer service will have to improve
greatly or this upcoming trip will be the final one
