Chris & Beck - May, 2014
My wife and I
hadn't been to Hedo 2 in several years, heard about the new ownership so
we took a six night trip there May 10-16th. Won't spend much time
on the travel portion. Only major difference is that the Super
Club room is no longer there. We checked in at a desk and were in
a larger bus than the old days in about 10 minutes so that was
efficient. Only downside is the trip took longer because we had to
make probably 4 stops before H2 which was the last stop. (Couple hours
or so)
Check in was
fast and friendly, room was ready early, so great! We stayed in
the Garden Nude area, and the rooms had been freshly painted and were
clean. Still a little dated, but clean and neat. Party
atmosphere was awesome as always. We caught the resort in a slow
week, so overall it wasn't packed, but as usual, we made friends and had
a great time at the nude pool. We met one of the owners, Harry,
who was extremely nice and partied with us at the pool.
They have made
great strides and improvements in the things that can be done quickly.
Food was much improved, we had no concerns or complaints about any meal
we had. It's not a five star resort, but I can assure you the food
was very good. Bars had plenty of top shelf booze. Service was warm and
friendly. Nude pool bar was fast and efficient, main bar was the same.
Dinner at the Italian restaurant was great as was the Japanese.
They were on time with our table and reservations at both places.
Entertainment was similar to years past. We enjoyed it, but have
seen similar things over the years so often that it was nothing really
new to us, but they did a great job.
The
entertainment staff was funny and friendly. They didn't force
guests to participate in events if they didn't want to, but the games
were funny and made us laugh. The Piano Bar was also well done, and the
music was great. Blessed by some talented guests who really could
sing Karaoke. The jewelry store is gone and there are plans to level out
that court yard and add a wine bar in the future as well as expand the
bathrooms there. Gift shop was nice and friendly with a solid
selection of gifts and goods.
We met a few
guests that were staying in the updated beach view rooms which were very
nice, so if you want to spend the extra bucks, you might enjoy doing
that. We spend such little time in the room, we just don't care to
blow the extra money. Grounds were much improved as well, and they
were constantly pruning, sweeping, and cleaning. They cleared out
the overgrowth in the monument forest near the nude pool, so that seems
a lot less intimidating.
Heard stories of A/C issues and some folks not having hot water.
We didn't have any issues really. The resort is over 30 years old
and is in need of some behind the scenes repairs, which as I understand,
they are getting after those. Disco, well, we were so tired
nightly I think we only made it past 1 am. a couple of times. The
Disco was playing good music, but we were just too early, the piano bar
was still busy til midnight. Resort was probably only 50%
occupied, so that affects the amount of congestion in the disco.
Folks, I would say that the resort has made huge strides. It was
in danger of folding and it is being rescued by people that care.
We truly had one of the best vacations ever. So much fun we
certainly plan on coming back. We loved H3, and we have been to
both Desires which we also enjoy. They all have their advantages
and disadvantages, but what were the issues at H2 are being corrected
and we will definitely return to Negril. BTW walked by Sandals....very
nice, but BORING!
One last thing, we went at the same time as the Wickedwildcats and they
were a fun crowd. Special thanks to Rick and Suzi who were just
the nicest, funnest, friendliest couple. They were going to be the
hosts for the following week but made us feel right at home. It
was nice to see Scott and Kathy again. They were the hosts for the
week we were there and did a wonderful job at games and being just
overall great people making everyone feel like one of the group.
And our DJ for the week was Mark. He was clever, funny, and once
again, just a great all around guy. So glad to have met all of
you. So, with that, I will say "Until Next Time!"
