Roger & Nancy - January/February 2013

Jan 30- Feb 10

This was trip #29 for us. Over the last 27 years we have watch H2 slowly evolve as it added features (some we like, some we don't use or see as having any value). One thing that seems constant is the people. Most are easy going and are there to have a good time. The ECs are an energetic group of young people who seem to be getting younger each year as I know we aren't getting any older :-)  Winston is still a hoot and has support from Fifty and Milea and a number of others.

There are many on the staff that continue to do a great job. Ray runs a great dinning room staff. Delroy, Paulette, Anna, Scumba, and Matta do a great job at the bars and new this year is Eldon in the piano bar. He gets our vote for outstanding new staff person.

Now the other stuff we noted.

Food selection is for the most part similar to what we have come to expect over the years. Pasta bar is available for lunch & dinner and now there are two egg/omelet stations in the morning. Friday lobster was good both weeks we were there. We did note a slight reduction at the salad bar. Hard to put our finger on it. The center decorations were gone and we could not identify any specific cuts but we had a feeling a couple of items were no longer available.  Speaking of not available. Bananas were only available at the nude bar twice in 11 days. We had some friends staying at another resort and they reported having bananas available every day.

Hot water. We had it every day and in plentiful quantities.

Augustus seemed to be almost his old self and still working twice as hard ans anyone at keeping "his" beach clean and debris free.

"Repeat Offenders" party on the 6th was large and held by the pool. Winners of 5 days were at 16 trips. Winners of the 3 day "repeat winner" prize were at 16 since their last win and there was a drawing that all could enter for more free days (don't remember if 3 or 5 days).

The transfer system Denny had arranged, seemed to work for us. We checked in at MBJ and were told 20 minutes till we board the bus. 23 min later we were on the bus! About a 5 min wait for one additional person then we were off. No stop on the way (our preference).

Trip time was about 1:30.

We left early (6AM) Sunday 2/10 and were at MBJ exactly 1:10 later for the fastest trip ever.

It will be interesting to see what develops over the next months with the new owners.

Already thinking about our 30th trip.
