Rookie Report
1. Immigration/airline-Had no problems. Flew
United and left on time both ways. Thought it would be a mess at
Immigration due to spring break, but we were out of the airport within in
hour. Being at Hedo the first time, it was a little embarrassing at the
Superclubs check in when they asked, "which resort"
and there were a bunch of people in line, or when they put on your luggage
tag. We got over it.
2. Resort Check in-It was pretty quick. Got to
our room with our luggage with in a half hour. We did get there
at 4 with only 3 other couples. We were on the prude side of the resort 1256.
Could have caught a cab from our room with as close to the
road as we were. We asked to be moved and they told us there
would be a fee. Later we found out (resort was only 1/2 full) that other
people had asked to be moved and were, and were not charged a fee. This
is when I began to think that there was a "political" theme to this resort.
3. Rooms/Resort-Rooms are fine. Many people complained about the beds
being hard, but I actually thought they were very comfortable. Little bugs
everywhere. Do NOT bring a fruity drink to your room and leave there. You'll
come back to 200 bugs. We learned that the hard way. Shower filled up to our
ankles, but never over flowed. Bring a life vest just incase. We had
warm water most days. Thank goodness for the info on the red button that
helped. Another hint is to hang up the bath mat after showering, that way you
don't have to deal with it getting stuck in the door. We always had plenty of
bath towels.
4. Pool/beach-If staying on the prude side get
towels there at the pool and hang on to them all day/night. There were never
any at nighttime. Resort was really nice. Landscapers were always working
hard. The beach workers are under appreciated!! One day the current
changed and the entire nude beach filled up with seaweed. It took them
all day to bury the stuff!! But they did it and the beach looked great
again. If you want a pool chair at the nude pool get there at 6 am. Otherwise
forget about it. No one really lays in them, so I don't know why they
were always saved. We didn't mind, we were always in the pool.
Just needed a spot for our stuff. Some people
said bring a raft, but I'd only bring a couples raft for the beach. There
were plenty of rafts. It may depend on the time of the year you go. The
ocean water was absolutely perfect for floating!! Hot tub was shut down daily
for cleaning (thank goodness). It was always fun to conclude your night there.
Even though everyone says the hot tub scum is from lotion, its still pretty
bad at 2 am. We had some people skim the scum with towels, and it seemed
to take care of the problem. Bar service only went till
2 am.
It should go until the last shriveled up person leaves.
5. People-We met tons of people and loved them all. Just love that fact
that there weren't cliques. Whether or not you were into swinging, everyone
talked to you. We always were able to get a drink and food from the
grill. Robert always made us feel as if we were the only people at the resort.
Delroy didn't really interact with us.
6. Food-UGGH it was horrible. It must have been really bad way back.
What were people eating if they think its decent
now??? We ate breakfast in the dinning room, lunch at Roberts, dinner in one
of the restaurants. Never made it over there for lunch.
Even the Friday dinner was just bad. My husband who eats anything couldn't
suck it down. If we ate in the dinning room we lived on salads. We
certainly didn't starve. Just wish it were better. I did enjoy being able to
wear any type of clothing in the dinning room!! My husband enjoyed it as
well.
7. Other things we noticed-The entertainment was EXCELLENT!! It was the
best we've ever seen in
Jamaica. They were
truly professionals!!! The piano bar was basically karaoke every night.
It might be more fun to change it to a sing along. We were invited to the
repeaters party and the trip was given away to the person who had been there
the most. That confirmed my feelings about the resort catering to the
repeaters and giving it that political theme. Other
Superclub resorts do a raffle, which is fair. The disco would
start off really fun, and then die down about 12:30. It seemed that the
music would do a change from American type of music to this hard-core unknown
music. Then the resort guests would leave and the locals/visitors would
stay. This happened every night and became frustrating. I felt forced out.
Also it was noted on several occasions that clothed visitors would come over
to the nude hot tub and just sit and watch. One time a clothed visitor
pulled up a lounge chair next to a couple getting friendly on another lounge
chair and just watched. The man caught him and chewed him out. He left,
but didn't leave the area. They were also noticed standing by the
restrooms. My husband did tell 2 workers that night, and they did
nothing. In fact one worker continued on with his "dealing" with a
guest. This became very troublesome to us and other guests. I just
didn't feel safe. My husband along with others now had to walk us to the
bathroom or at least during the day watch us go.
I'd fear with all that noise from the hot tub, no one would hear a thing if
anything were to happen. I absolutely think that the visitors need to be
limited to one night. This kind of situation was unacceptable and I hope
that management reads this email and will look into the situation.
Will we go back?? I will have to let the above settle with me before I make
that decision. I just can accept not feeling safe at an all-inclusive resort
