Mark & Julie - 3/99

This was our first trip to Hedo and before I say anything I want to say Julie and I had a terrific time and plan to return as often as we can. I say this because I can sound too critical at times. That being said I'll try to just start as our trip did, in Miami. We arrived at MIA Monday morning with plenty of time to enjoy some good Cuban coffee and make it to the flight easily which departed on time. The flight was pleasant and quick and as we departed with our luggage we were approached by reps of 3 different airlines to fly to Negril. Before we could say No Mon we were driving to the airport and were in a little 4 seater. It was a great little "hop" and 15 minutes later we were in Hedo. Of course our rooms were not ready but there was lunch on the beach so we killed some time waiting for our room. Next time we'll head straight over to the pool so we won't lose a minute. Once we did finally check in to our Au Natural garden view room we went over to the pool. Being at a nude resort for the first time was easier than I thought it would be and we felt comfortable from the first minute on. From then until we left we basically stayed on the beach or at the pool. Some things that stand out are: the sun was VERY strong so our skin needed constant attention. We met some great people from Jersey and S. Dakota (if you can believe that) to Columbia among many other places. The folks we corresponded with prior to the trip we didn't meet until the trip was half over and although I liked them all very much we didn't actually spend much real time together. One thing that became a little uncomfortable, especially for Julie, was the number of times she was cordially invited to swing. I guess she felt like she would have been more comfortable knowing that a conversation didn't always have to end up in an invite. This is not to judge "swinging" and EVERYONE was respectful but it got to the point where we would have preferred meeting more like minded folks so we didn't end so many conversations with a rejection. Back to the fun stuff...The PJ party and Toga night didn't disappoint, Veronicas Piano Bar was our favorite night spot with a late night trip to the hot tub of course, Pastafari's was a nice civilized way to spend the evening (Julie liked it better than me, I guess she is more civilized) Robert's burgers and jerk chicken hit the spot, Scumba and Delroy can DEFINITLY pour, Louis can fly, and the catamaran cruse and the night dive were both well worth the money. One cute story that happened was as our catamaran approached the caves at the Pickled Parrot and a bunch of naked Hedo folks started swimming towards the cliff-divers by the caves, one young diver who had just dove in yelled up to his friend "Hurry up and dive in, I'm scared of these people." All in all the food isn't that great, the place could be cleaner, the beach could be less rocky, the Disco could play less Techno but all that being said it was one of the best weeks of our lives. BTW, during our week I noticed there wasn't one perfect human body although in that observation came the realization that we are all perfect. Irie, mon.
