Eric & Karen - 09/99

Well it all started with the Annual Family Labor Day Picnic on Saturday then 12 hrs later we wereon the plane to Hedo!!

Being that we both packed carry-on’s arrival into Mo-Bay was a breeze. We had chartered a plane by TimAir, Thanks Jamaica Jim, which was waiting for us when we got there, so within about 1 hr from our arrival at Mo-Bay we were back at our “home away from home” Hedonism II.

Check in was a breeze. And after our” Welcome Back To Hedo Ritual” Karen and I went down to the nude beach to soak in the sun, have a few drinks and to reunite with old friends and “family”.

It was good to see Bab’s, Bev, Don and the rest of the crew again. And was great to see Tracy and Jimmy (IL) again. Last year they were part of “The Wolf Pack” but this year they were with us. We also had the honor to meet Tony (TX), author of “Twas the night before Hedo”.

It was during that time, and many Purple Rains later, that the “Purple Tongue Club” was formed. :-) The rest of the day was spent readjusting to “the way life should be” and later that night, during the entertainment, Karen and Tony entered and came in 3rd place in the Swing Contest. Better luck next time guys, or maybe it’s time for me to start taking dance lessons. :-) After a quick jump into the hot tub later that evening we decided to “call it a day”.

On Monday we made new friends, Tom and Laura (KY). Laura was actually the Nude Water-Aeroibics Teacher that week. She got the group motivated and during her session I had definitely started to work up a sweat. Wait a minute...I’m in the water!!! Oh, never mind...

Later that day we participated in the nude twister and it was then that I realized something...I’m NOT as flexible as I used to be. OUCH!!! Karen ended up winning Hedo Bucks, probably due to the yoga she did before the trip. I ended up getting another Purple Rain

As expected the rest of the day was spent reuniting with old friends and making new ones. Dave (TX) was a new friend and we were very proud to see his progress and development throughout the week, in real English “He came out of his shell”. He had come to Hedo II as a lamb, after being bounced from Hedo III which was still having opening delays, but left Hedo II as a LION. Later that night, Kareoke was the place to be. Tom (of Tom and Laura) went up to sing “O Solo Mio”, needless to say that no one knew that in “the real world” he professionally sings Opera. Well let me tell you, Tom received an unanimous Standing Ovation from the guests. The people were going crazy. Only one ” bad thing”....I was the next singer. Luckily I sang “Hold My Hand”, by Hootie and the Blow Fish, which is in my range and of which I have been told that I have a similar sounding singing voice to Darius Rucker. The song went over very well...Whew.... and I made a point that night to make sure that I didn’t sing after Tom again. :-) Monday Night was also the singing debut of Dave (TX) who became the Kareoke King before the week was done.

Tuesday highlights included The Best Breast Contest” between those that were “real” and those that were “almost real”. Karen, Tracy, Leslie and Heather (SC), among others were participants in the “real” contest. Although neither one placed an award it was a lot of fun seeing them have such a good time. And let us not forget Angie aka “MISS TENNESSEE”!!!

As it was time to get ready for the evenings activities Karen and I celebrated our 5th year Anniversary. I surprised her with a bottle of Champagne, Card and a Sculpture waiting for us in the room.

Later that night we took the bottle of Champagne and shared it with our friends Reid and Tanya (AZ ) during dinner and throughout the evenings entertainment ,“The Scavenger Hunt”. A funny highlight on this hunt was to the “Guys Side” who eventually produced, after about 20 minutes, a Viagra Tablet, which helped them win the contest. But again I felt that the true winner were the guests. The laughter and fun that was the result of the antics performed in trying to “win” this contest was enjoyed by all. Later th at night was the PJ Party. And although Karen and I did not place in the “Couple Category” she won 1st place in the coveted title of “Sexist Outfit”. We were also very proud of Jim and Tracy (IL) who came in 1st Place as “Best Couple”.

Wednesday was Karen’s day to nap while I be-bopped around the resort meeting Tom and Joanne (NJ), Bruce and Pat (MD) among others. But in having lunch on the prude side Karen did end up convincing two prudes, Jay and Tim (OH ) to come over to “the other side” which the eventually did and realized that it is no big deal...on “the other side”.

Thursday was still another day in Paradise but because of the inappropriate actions of a “disgruntled” guest , the night before, the pool was being cleaned/closed for most of the day. As we were hanging out on the picnic table, next to the bar, we met Jenny (UK). She was an wonderful person and amazed us all by remembering and reciting all of our names, about 15, after just meeting us.She continued this talent throughout the rest of the week.

Later that day Tony (TX) organized us and about 20 other nudes and we made our presence known on the prude side. We felt like swimming in a pool and playing Water Volleyball and since our poll was closed and the only net was at the prude pool we followed the example of our leader, Tony, and captured the prude pool. It was early afternoon and we tended to recruit more people to join us along the journey. The winner of the boys vs the girls game ended up being the boys, but the true winner was the resort, esp. the prudes because we showed them that you can have fun being nude without any “sexual connotations” and that is the true feeling of freedom that we experience on the nude side. Unfortunately when we went to get a drink from the bar we were asked to put on towels but that was OK, we had a swim in the pool and played water volleyball. Mission accomplished.

When we returned to the picnic table, Jamie and Steve (MO), of the “DAMN!! Group” joined us showed us the “spoils” of their jewelry shopping trip into town. I’m not saying that this got me into “trouble” :-) but I have a feeling on our next visit Karen and I may have to make a similar trip.

Then it was the Toga Night/Talent Show. The talent show was good and people had a fun time. I had the honor to accompany Tony on guitar as he read his poem “Twas The Night Before Hedo” and I played my song “The Hedonism Blues”, which is the cassette you may have seen on the Hedo Bucks Table, while Tony, Karen and Tracy danced.

Friday was the start of our time to mourn :-( It was the beginning of our friends, both old and new, to begin the trek back to reality. The reunion was coming to an end. So during the day week enjoyed each others company knowing that this would be the last time the “group” would be together in full numbers until next year.

On a side note, I spent part of the afternoon with Rosie, the woman on the prude side who braids hair, where all of the jewelry and carvings are displayed. She was recently diagnosed with Diabetes and being a Pharmacist I gave her a Glucometer, which is a machine used to measure blood sugar levels, to help her control her diabetes and instructed her on how to use the machine. I known her for 5 years and wanted to help her stay healthy.

On Friday night we had a farewell dinner at Pastafari’s with Tony, his roommate Eric, Jim and Tracy, Tom and Joanne. The food was good, the champagne was cold and the memories kept us looking forward to keeping in touch and seeing each other again next year.

On Saturday we met Kevin and Janet, who are magicians that had shows booked for the resort unfortunately after we would have gone. They did keep us entertained during dinner and the Piano Bar for the next two nights but we would have liked to see their actual performance on stage. Saturday was also the day that Karen and I painted and placed our “Rock” which we look forward to seeing each time we return.

Sunday was our last full day there. We said goodbye to Tom and Joanne and spent the rest of the day relaxing and making new friends. It was kinda difficult because it was a new group of guests and even though “every new beginning comes from some other beginning’s end” we knew that any beginning now would end in about 24hrs :-(

Other highlights from the trip included: 3 marriages; Kim/Chris (IL), Donna/Harry (FL) and the couple from Ireland. They and the rest of their group, from Ireland, kept us entertained every night at the Piano Bar especially with their song “I am the Music Man” which always got the guests there involved into singing with them. Seeing and Hanging out with Tim Tate/Chris Barker and Crew from Yorkshire Television who were there again to film a sequel to their documentary “Pleasure Island” to be viewed in England. It was funny, one of the new directors, Andy, had an uncanny resemblance to Hugh Grant.

Meeting Lee (PA) who was a wonderful and fun guy and took the time to “keep an eye on everybody” to make sure nothing “stupid” ever happened. I commend him on his conviction. Which reminded me of my conviction when I am there with my “May Group”.

Last but definitely not least... Slow dancing with Karen at night. Since she lives in Canada and I in Boston our moments together, especially the quiet ones, are very precious to me.

We’ll see you again next year!!!
