This was my fourth trip to Hedo and sadly, it just might be my last. Things have changed at the once glorious Hedo. The primary problem is this was once the ideal place for open minded adults to explore sexuality, nudism and anything else a couple wanted to experiment with. In the past, Hedo did just that. This time, however, the staff and security seemed to believe that open minded, outgoing or sexually promiscuous guests were fair game for them as well. My fiancee wanted to explore being wild...open...sexual....it was her first trip and I assured her that she would not be harassed by the employees there. I said I'd run interference for the single men if she needed me to but that the staff there was very professional. Now hear this...we had our shades partly open during a love making session one afternoon and heard someone standing RIGHT outside our window, making moaning sounds. I looked out and saw a security guard making masturbatory gestures. I yelled and he ran off. Later that night, my fiancee was followed back to her room by a member of the pool staff asking where she was going. He was still standing at our door when I arrived with drinks and he took off. Later that night, we received a phone call in our room from a man with a heavy Jamaican accent asking me if he could speak to my lady! The men at the sail shack asked us one morning why we looked so tired...we just said we didn't sleep much..he leered at my girl and said I bet it was from making too much love last night and put his arm around her waist. Bartenders in the disco stopping their drink making to leer and lick their lips and make catcalls when sexy women walked in was common. Several times, they called out to summon women over to the bar. When one would approach and say, yes, what is it....one offered a woman "would you like some sex on the beach lady?" This kind of CONSTANT leering, commenting and inappropriate conversation made for an extremely uncomfortable situation in a place where guests should be free to be as sexually open as they want without inviting the attention of staff members. All of these complaints were lodged with the general manager who seemed very concerned. Amazingly, the single men were MUCH more polite and respectful the day after seeing a woman act openly at the Jacuzzi or whatever. To have employees follow women to their rooms, masturbate at the window, make phone calls to the room and all the rest of the more subtle harassment was deeply upsetting and I felt strongly about making other aware so that they can keep their eyes open and continue to report these issues as they arise. Maybe the management will take it seriously enough to offer some retraining about how staff members are to interact with guests and Hedo can once again become the wonderful haven for sexual freedom it has been known for so many years. As a special note, people like Delroy, Shaka and Clifton Richie are the kind of people that make you forget even the worst situations at Hedo. They are wonderful, delightful people and we will miss them.
