Dates of Trip 11/14/98-11/19/98
We had heard a lot about Hedonism II from good friends that have gone with Bif's bunch for several years. When we finally said enough with the stresses of work, we booked Hedo for a 6-night stay and the anticipation began building immediately.
We did a lot of posting on Denny's webpage and of course corresponded with some great couples and singles that were going to be there at the same time. The message board was so helpful. We also ordered Chris Santilli's book, which is an excellent account of Hedo.
Prior to our arrival at Hedo, we booked a trip with TimAir to take us from MoBay to Negril. This was done at the recommendation of another website we will not mention. Needless to say, it was a huge mistake. We arrived in MoBay, finally got thru customs and was shuttled to the TimAir strip. Our flight was suppose to leave TimAir at approximately 11:45 am. At 1:45pm, we were advised that a plane was FINALLY ready to take us. THE BUS ACTUALLY BEAT US THERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Of course, TimAir provided the usual Jamaica excuses and told us to "just relax Mon". They also provided us with a coupon for a free flight on our next trip, however I do not think we will be using it.
So we finally arrive at Hedo and are told that we cannot check in until 3:00pm. Another hour!!!!!!! So we head to the dining area to eat lunch and grab some drinks. By about 3:30pm and several bus loads of people we are finally given our room keys. WOW.....what an ordeal!!!!!!!!!!
From that point on, our trip went smoothly. We met so many great couples and some single men. Of course, there was hardly a single woman in sight. We did the sunset cruise to Rick's Cafe and the Booze cruise to the Pickled Parrot. Both were tons of fun and we recommend them to others, especially first- timers.
The food was actually good while we were there. I did not have one bad meal (even the dreaded Chinese night was good). I was somewhat disappointed in Pastafararie's. My selection was very bland and tasteless. However, others with us said their selections were very tasty. My suggestion, GO!
The major let down of our trip was the large number of single men there. On one evening, we arrived at the nude hot tub at approximately 11:30pm. There were about 7-8 other couples in there. By 12:30 there were 3 couples left and 27 single, very obnoxious rude men. I am not talking about mature 30-45 year old men, I am talking about young 20-25 year old, "I have to get laid" boys. At one point in the evening, they actually harassed a woman after pushing her husband into the hot tub. They managed to clear the hot tub of couples by 1:00. It was sad!!!!!!
Sex in the open during our week stay was nonexistent. We witnessed one couple having sex in the Grotto one afternoon. Other than that, there was nothing exciting to see. In speaking with a lot of Hedo veterans and employees, they all said this was the mildest crowd they have ever seen. The Sex Police were not around at all so they cannot be blamed for the lack of sexual activity.
The staff was okay. No one went out of their way to go the extra mile. The bartenders were pretty much slow to wait on you and the dinner staff had no personalities.
All in all our trip was relaxing and pleasant, despite the numerous complaints. We have already booked our second trip for a different time of the year and hope that the change helps bring more fun and enjoyment. I would definitely recommended Hedonism II to anyone looking for an all-inclusive totally relaxing trip. It is definitely worth the money!!!!!!
