Bruce & Cathy's Hedonism II Trip Report

Trip Hedonism II April 21-28,

This was our first trip to Hedo and hopefully it won’t be our last! We had some concerns before we got there, even after reading all the trip reports. The trip down to Montego Bay was uneventful with the exception of having to get up at 4 AM on Tuesday to get to our flight. We arrived in Montego Bay at about 12:30 and we were on our bus ride by 1 PM. Because of Denny's visitor posting Dean and Robin from Northern Virginia had written to our posted address since we were going on the same day and we found out we were on the same flight from Philadelphia. As it turned out we were the only four people on the Juta bus. All four of use were prepared for the "bus ride from hell" but we all thought our bus driver did an excellent job missing almost all the worst parts of the road and our trip was uneventful.

Upon arriving at Hedo, we had our first problem, our rooms were not ready. Fortunately, lunch was still being served and of course the bar was open! Unfortunately, we were severely overdressed for the hot Jamaica afternoon. We had packed in my carry on bag, sandals and swimsuits to change into, so after a quick visit to the rest rooms, we were much more comfortable. In about 45 minuets a room was assigned to us. We had reserved an Ocean View room on the nude side, but they were only able to give us a garden view room on the nude side or our first night. Although we made reservations for the nude side we had never actually been to a nude resort and we had concerns we would not be able to be nude. As we walked to our room we encountered a couple of nude people and it kind of prepared us for going to the beach. Once in the room we quickly put our already delivered bags on the bed and locked up our valuables in the safe and headed for the beach. As we walked toward the beach we were discussing if we really going to take our suits off, and if so how long would it take us. We had anticipated it would take at best, and hour or so. We were both surprised that our suits lasted about 30 seconds. For those of you also concerned about taking your clothes off for the first time the only thing I can relate it to is imagining that you walked naked into a room full of clothed people, but everything is just the reverse! Once our suits were off, we found a couple of chairs on the beach and sat down and looked at each other in amazement that we were actually laying there naked on a beach full of other nude people and fitting in. In about a half an hour Dean and Robin showed up and found some chairs next to another couple about 30 yards away. They started talking to this couple and in a couple of minutes Dean called us over to introduce us to Pat and Phil a couple that had been listed as being from upstate NY on Denny's visitor page. It turns out that they are from the same small town that we are. After talking to them for a while we decided to take a brief tour of the nude area and go back to our room and get dressed for dinner. It is funny how for us first timers at being nude in public, this was the last time we looked forward to getting dressed the rest of our vacation.

Dinner was uneventful but the choice of food, quality and quantity was excellent. We don’t remember much until we put on our pajamas and headed off to the disco. The PJs people were wearing (or I should say not wearing) were very interesting. We were definitely over dressed in our conservative PJs. We didn’t think that our PJs were conservative, but we soon found out that ANYTHING (or nothing) goes. The disco is small and hot and very noisy, we only lasted about 20 minutes. We decided that we would go to the hot tub and see what the activities were like at night. Since it had been a long day we only lasted 30 minutes or so and went back to our room and went to sleep.

Wednesday morning we hit the beach by about 8:30 and spent the whole day out in the sun. Be sure that even if you don’t have a problem with the sun to take enough sun block to protect yourself from the hot Jamaican sun. I know I can’t stay in the sun too long, but my wife who has never had a problem even fried. Also be careful that if you drink vodka slushes all day, don’t drink champagne at Pastafari’s. We did and we found ourselves passed out by 9PM. We enjoyed our day, and met many people who we enjoyed hanging out with throughout our week. Dinner at Pastafari’s was excellent, with the exception of the champagne headache.

Thursday, again we were on the beach by 8:30. It should be noted, as others have said, to get a prime spot on the beach, with a raft, you must be an early riser. The days all seemed to be the same, to the beach until around 1:00 then to the pool to avoid the heat of the day. Then back to the beach to enjoy the late afternoon sun. By around 6 we would head to our room to get washed up for dinner (and unfortunately dressed). All the dinners were very good and we have no complaints about any of them. There was always a choice of white or red wines and the waiters kept your glass full most of the time. Thursday was the famous Toga party. We had attended the afternoon lesson/demonstration but found it looked easier than it actually was. We have never spent so much time to get ready to wear so little. We ate dinner with two of our new friends, Barbara and Melvin. They did not get a sheet in their room to make togas, so Melvin wore a wash cloth and Barbara had the body painter (who was available to paint your body for a dollar a minute) paint a toga on her. The Hedo staff told her she must were a sheet so she just draped it over her shoulder which made it ok, even though it only covered her shoulder. After the staff/guest talent show we headed off to the hot tub. This also was our usual nighttime ritual. One comment about the talent show, it was surprisingly entertaining, with the exception of the last two talent-less guests.

Friday nights’ entertainment was the circus show. The performers were very talented and the show was both inside and outside where three guests who had taken trapeze lesson also performed. After the acrobatics we watched the beach party (on the prude beach). Just before it ended we went to the hot tub and watched as what seemed like hundreds of people came out of the dark to join us in the tub.

Saturday we decided to take our only trip off the Hedo property, to Ricks Caf. Our excursion also included a stop at a roadside market for some shopping and a visit to an old lighthouse. We were not impressed by the lighthouse visit, which consisted of the van driver stopping just off the road and us looking at the lighthouse from behind a gate about a of a mile away. The sunset at Ricks was wonderful. The price of the beer was ten American dollars for a pitcher. The cliff diving area was also impressive. If I had known it was not as high as I expected I would have worn my bathing suit and might have jumped from the lower cliff.

Sunday was our only visit to Victorias Piano Bar after dinner. At dinner we met two new couples, Pinky and Paul, and Jerry and Marion.. We joined our new Hedo friends at the bar. It was very enjoyable and the vocal talent of some of the guests was amazing. After the bar, we went to our usual hot tub retreat. This was the only night we experienced any overt sexual activity, being a couple copulating on the upper walkway between the ocean rooms and the garden rooms. This couple had quite a group of spectators observing them from below.

On our last full day we went to watch the lunch time entertainment for the first time. Pinky who we had met the night before was an exotic dancer from Pittsburgh and was participating in the wet T-shirt contest. It was an interesting contest since the T-shirts did not last very long. Pinky came in second to another exotic dancer from Philadelphia. There were a couple of ladies who entered this contest who I’m sure wished they hadn’t. Entering this event is not for the novice, as it is very exotic and erotic.

Our last day was very depressing. We did not want to leave. You must be packed with your bags outside you door an hour before your bus departure time. With our time being 11:00 we did not have much time to do anything but eat breakfast and take some last pictures. We said goodbye to a few friends and had a couple of vodka slushes for the road. Our bus was one of the resorts large buses and it was just us and a single guy from Buffalo. They must have been expecting a lot of new guests for us to have this large bus to ourselves. The trip to the airport took just over two hours including the driver having to stop the bus to drain water out of the diesel fuel. I was concerned that he was not going to get the bus restarted afterward. We arrived at the airport with plenty of time to spare and we were surprised by the search of our carry on bags just before we boarded our plane. The rest of our trip was pretty uneventful except that I had mistakenly taken our boarding time for our connecting flight in Philadelphia as our departure time and we hurried through the airport just to wait.

We had lots of reservations going into this trip, but now we can’t wait to go back. For those who listen to word of mouth, DON’T! Do bring plenty of sunscreen, insulated cups, water shoes or sandals and very few clothes. (We definitely overpacked.) We hope that this trip report helps. Bruce and Cathy

Thanks for the report. - Denny
