Grand Lido Braco: August 20-26
Our flight was nonstop from Atlanta to Montego Bay with AirJamaica. It was
a great flight. We were served breakfast (cheese omelet and sausage), and
it was much better than our local Huddle House. Immigration was smooth
and fairly quick. The superclubs desk "took care of us" until out bus
left (about 20 minutes). I enjoyed the 20 minute wait because I got to
"tour" the airport, take a restroom break, and enjoy a well needed
cigarette.
I found the bus ride to be very enjoyable. A good way to see the "real
Jamaica". The bus ride proved to be my only way of seeing Jamaica since we
never found the energy to leave the resort during our stay. Honestly, we
never wanted to leave the resort--we were just having too much fun.
Check-in was a breeze. No cool towel (but who cares if you've got a dirty
banana in your hand). A cool breeze, the sound of Jamaican music, and the
smell of the sea was plenty for us!! The staff was very helpful. We were
in our room within 15 minutes! I did "feel" that the young man who
took
our luggage to the room wanted a tip. He seemed to wait around for
something. Also, our room service delivery guy seemed to wait around for a
tip as well. These were the only two instances where I felt a staff member
was expecting a tip.
We had a second floor beachfront room on the textile side. It was
perfect!! We were in block two. The room was very clean and everything
was in working order. Our balcony was just WONDERFUL! We would enjoy
coffee and room service meals overlooking the oceans here. Enough about
the room--your not there enough for it to matter.
We tried all the restaurants and they were all very good. I did not have a
bad meal at anytime. We enjoyed the club houses as well--it is much more
private and you seem to have the hot tub all to yourself. They serve the
entire room service menu here as well as all bar drinks (and a few "other
things"). I can't seem to say which restaurant is my favorite--they are all
unique in their own way and each must be tried at least once.
The staff was very friendly. The bartenders would see me and they would
know what I wanted to drink. I never had to tell them after the second
day. Unfortunatley, I had to use the nurse. I got some glass in my foot
(wear flip flops, swim shoes, or whatever). She was VERY nice and helped
me out immediately.
The beach is pretty, but it's not as nice as Negril. The sand is a little
rocky and rough. The water is not near as clear and smooth as Negril. But,
it is BEAUTIFUL and LARGE! There are plenty of chairs and floats both on
the beach and around the pool.
The pool--oh the pool!!!! This was my favorite spot! I think I spent my
entire vacation at the swim-up bar. The pool is huge and clean and
beautiful......We visited the au-natural side and I think that pool is even
bigger and prettier!
The only night-time entertainment was saw was "street dance" night.
It was
fun--don't miss it!! Everyone is dancing and partying in the street. The
other nights we were usually in the hot tub or at the club house--so we
missed all the other nightly shows.
I can't comment on anything else because we didn't do anything else. We
just turned into sand slugs!! I don't know where our days went--they just
ran together along with time. We would get up, eat, go to the bar, go to
the beach, go to the bar, go to the hot tub, go to the bar......Now do you
see why time ran together.
This was our 5th visit to Jamaica and our 1st visit to Grand Lido Braco.
My husband and I both agree that Grand Lido Braco is the resort we have
been looking for. For us, it ws perfect!!! You can dress up and get "real
classy" if you want to. Or, you can wear shorts and flip flops--just
whatever you're in the mood for. You can party or be very quiet and
private--again, just whatever you're in the mood for.
We will definitely go back!!
