Scott & Joey - July, 2007

We returned from our third trip to GLB. Though we love going and espicially the reunion with friends, it seems to be changing year after year, and unforturnatly not for the better. Request seem to be more and more ignored. Replacement and maintaining of equiptment and facilities seems to be less and less important. Many of the Staff have been been changing, espicially this year. One wonders if the staff are not being taken care of or are the mega resorts going up near by just able to pay so much more. Some of our favorites seem to have left first. The departure of the Ron, the General Manager seems to have had a profound negetive on the resort. Don't get me wrong there are still some dedicated employees that will go out of their way. Wayne and Meryle the bartenders at the A/N pool and Peter in Watersports are always terrific. We saw Carla, one of the social directors, leaving saying goodby one day at lunch, going to work as a dance instructor in the states. Not sure what happened to Rohan, missed his energy for sure.

Hopefully the rumors of the change in the resort will not come true. Braco is a good balance of Hedo and Prude resorts and we would hate to see that disappear. If they do not find a way to keep returning guest happy (and them recommending others to come as well) they will be just a regular resort, what a loss that would be. We have heard of a desire to turn it into some sort of time shares or a Casino. There is a small area over the piano that does have slots in it now for a trial basis?

If you read some of the previous post on this site I think the trend speaks for itself. Come on Braco, please turn it around. Start first by listening and responding to the guest. Take good care of your employees and they will make the resort the fabulous place that it should be. No problem mon should not mean if we feel like it, maybe.

We noticed many of the same deficiencies as others have mentioned like the service in Victorian Market meals. Events were abandoned or never happened though they were on the schedules. The 'show' at the Japanese resturant doesn't happen any more from what we could tell. Our single meal at the French, I had was great however my wife couldn't eat hears as it was done so poorly. Others had the same experiances that we talked with.

We also noticed that the nude was often not the case during the week. It used to be you were told that the rule was nude or go to the other side. I don't know what the difference was this time but there was no enforcement. It did make some uncomfortable because a few would not comply even when told about it.

On a positive note we did manage to get approval for a request for our own fantasy night on Friday night at the A/N pool bar. Requested the sound system be brought back out and got Wayne graciously came back to work from 9-11. Though it took a little prompting this was the hit of our week for sure. Nice and cool outside with our own music and what ever you did or did not care to wear made for an espicially fun time. These kind of request can happen if you press it. As it is tight in the clubhouse and the A/C in there doesn't work what a great change that turned out to be. That should be the way the events are always done in the heat of July we think

We will have to see how the year goes to see about next year. We would hate to miss meeting up with friends but if it sounds like the things continue to faulter we may have to make other plans.
