We stayed at Braco from 9/12 through 9/20. We had previously stayed at GL Negril twice. We had heard that Braco would be somewhat less satisfying than Negril. We were pleasantly suprised. Braco is considerably larger than Negril with about the same number of guests. At Braco, the entire side of the resort is C/O where in Negril, only the beach area is C/O. This is a major difference for those who enjoy the C/O experience. You can visit the clubhouse for snacks, play pool or ping pong, vollyball, or just sit around and visit. The pools on each side are huge. On the beach or by the pool bar, Cynthia, the fruit lady, strolls by and offers fruit from her basket. The activity director visits at least once each day to try to entice guests to participate in body painting or other activities. A three piece group provides entertainment a couple of times each day. The rooms are large and comfortable. They are actually larger(and newer) than the rooms in Negril and each room has a refrigerator that is stocked with soft drinks, beer (Miller Gen Draft), and champagne. They also have a stove. (Who would dream of cooking?) Room service was efficient and usually prompt. Most of all, the staff was very friendly and actually seemed to go out of their way to please the guests. The heart of the resort is designed like a village. There are shops and street vendors. On Friday night, there is a street party with Jamaican dancers and lots of great food including BBQ Lobsters. Normally, breakfast and lunch are served at the open air restaurant. For dinner this becomes a very nice sit down restaurant. Next door is a Japanese (Benehana style) restaurant. There is also a very nice little Italian restaurant with outside seating that serves pasta, soup and salad, and pizza. Next door is a bakery that serves desert and drinks (Coffee, tea, soft drinks). Upstairs is the French restaurant. This requires reservations and a coat. The food is very nice and the wine is actually California (Glen Ellen). There is also a Jerk Pit BBQ for lunch and grills at the pool bar on both beaches. Both beaches have swim up bars where you can drink or eat. Also, both beaches have clubhouses that are open 24 hours for food or drink. Activities include a variety of water sports, vollyball, golf, tennis (both nude or dressed), soccer, basketball, bicycles, etc. One hair or manicure is free and dry cleaning or laundry is also free (as well as efficient). Would we return? The only question is how soon can we get back!
